Our Yale HSA6400 has popped after about ten years of service. God damn those tamper springs and microswitches…

I need a relatively simple system with an external siren box, internal console (with siren), four PIRs, eight door contacts and for dramatic effect, a panic button. I locate one PIR in the shed so a transmission range of around 25 m is needed. An extendable system would be good with various add-on accessories.

I don’t want a system that accesses my WiFi router or one that requires an MSc in networking to set up!

Our Ring system has everything you’ve described, but is wired to the WiFi router for us to monitor the cameras and sensors via the app.  The base unit has a cellular backup in case the WiFi goes down.  All sensors are connected to the base unit via it’s own WiFI network, but the cameras and door bell use the house WiFi.

    Ring +1.

Ours is all battery and wireless, bar the base station that is pugged into the wall in the living room.  You can have as little or as much as you want to buy, we have video doorbell, a couple of portable cameras (to watch the dog when we are out), front and back door sensors, 4 in-room motion sensors and an external bell box.

Another Yale? Been out of the industry a while and refused to touch wireless then, but I’d have thought eight wireless door contacts might up the cost a bit.

Pyronix Enforcers seem popular. I’ve set one up for a colleague a couple of years ago, seems reliable. Probably a bit over budget though. Kits are around £300 iirc.

    The Ring kit looks good.

    Any tamper springs involved?

If any of the sensors are messed with, they report to the base station.

Each sensor can also be configured to emit a different noise when activated.  We know, from anywhere in the house whether a window, front door, patio door or garage door has been triggered as each has a unique sound.

Ring user here, it’s a great system.

We don’t bother with the subscription, the core functionality is fine without.

    Thanks a lot.
