    Cibo Matto

None of them have much, if anything in common, apart fropm the fact that they are brilliant.

If you liked the Black Keys, The Black Angels’ “Phosphene Dream” album may appeal.

For a good lucky dip get on the iPlayer and tune into Huey Morgan’s radio 2 or 6 music show. A huge variety of music and you will love at least some of it.

Check out the piano concerto No 2 in F major composed by Dmitri Shostakovich. One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.

If you like the Black Keys try RL Burnside, Ass Pocket of Whisky and Wish I was In Heaven. I saw the Black Keys the other week and saw Rich Robinson this week so I’ll recommend his latest, Through A Crooked Sun, one of the best albums I’ve heard for a long time, a grower.

Well, there’s a new field music album out.

The Cornshead Sisters debut is out soon too.

And the Futureheads have an Acapella album out soon

Get a DAB radio, a notepad or Shazam on a smartphone, and listen to 6Music as often as you can and take notes.
Go into WHSmith and buy The Word magazine regularly and listen to the free CD and read the reviews. A lot of the artists mentioned will become very familiar. It’s how I continually find lots of new music.
    I could also mention:
Beth Jean Houghton and the Hooves Of Destiny
    Allo Darlin’
    RM Hubbert
    Tog
    Jagwar Ma
    Kathleen Edwards
    Alt-J
    Niki & The Dove
    Tiny Ruins
    Sharon Van Etten
    Portico Quartet
    Loney Dear
    Polica
    Grimes
    Magic Magic
    Robert Ellis
    Lucy Rose
    Porcelain Raft
    Ren Harview
James Levy & The Blood Red Rose
    Gotye
    Lianna La Havas
All these are tags from the last couple of weeks on Shazam that caught my attention on 6Music. A significant number I’ve bought where available; not all are, yet.
There’s shit-loads of good new music out there that’s easy to find, just listen to 6Music.

If you like the retro sound like the Black Keys, which are awesome btw – all albums, then check out the singers solo album, forgot the name. Or some sunshine aussie psych try tame impala – innerspeaker. Still big fan of The Horrors – Skying too.

    New Shlohmo is good.

So I’m going to get the Tune Association thread going again. I need more stuff to investigate.

No way that one passed under my radar

So I’m going to get the Tune Association thread going again

Was just thinking the same thing myself, have got a lot of new stuff but not had time to check most of it. Symetry – Themes for an imaginary film is good if you’ve not heard

I get a lot of my new music via Gorilla vs. Bear.

Their mixtapes can be a bit hit and miss, but they’re a good way of finding new music if you can’t get 6 music. Usually more convenient than downloading the individual tracks too.

I’m liking the new Burial EP at the moment, particularly Ashtray Wasp, and I quite Niki and the Dove’s The Fox.

If any of you use spotify you should try spotibot.type in a band you like and it generates a playlist that you can drag directly into spotify.obviously of similar stuff to the artisy you typed in.you can choose the length of the playlist too.its a good way to discover new stuff.

Personally i miss passing round mix tapes though!

paulosoxo, the MPFree on 6Music Wednesday was the Cornshead Sisters, and very good it was too. Nice connection with 6 as Marie Santiago was Lauren’s bandmate in Kenickie. Good to hear another of the girls making music.
