I remember coming out of my english literature ‘o’level exam and the chatter about the questions and answers. One of my pals had panicked – couldn’t answer any of the questions very well but remembered that our teacher had said it was important to illustrate any of your answers with a quote. So he put any word he could be sure must be in a book somewhere in inverted commas – “he”, “it”. “those” and so on.
