An old Beautiful South song (Tonight I Fancy Myself) starts with what sounds like an old recording of gunfire, bagpipes and the words “Our period of waiting is over. This is the time.” Sounds like it could be a war-time radio news broadcast or similar.

I’m assuming it’s a sample, and my Google-fu is usually pretty strong, but I can’t track down the origin of it. All I get is to a Quora pages that tells me it’s the intro of a Beautiful South song, and a it being quoted as some guy’s Twitter header.

Anyone got any ideas? It’s not massively consequential, but it’s kind of bugged me for a while.
