As per the PSA thread, thought I’d share this for those interested. Extra 10% off atm too so an Alpine 6 frame with shock is a little over £800, the X9 gravel frame a touch over £200. Buy them to save me some money!

Almost tempted by an X9 frame at that price to build into a bike I never ride and then sell a few months later.

Tempted with the X9 too but the geometry is more conservative than my 2019 Camino. Not necessarily a bad thing but not quite what I’m after.

Yeah, me too. Got some nice XC wheels that’d go on it. Could lend it my son as a ride to work bike. Would be pretty sweet. I’ll hang til pay day, see if there are any left 🙂

It appears like they’ve found the cheapest catalogue frame available and added orange stickers to it. The discount price even seems too much. It also looks like it’s the lower rack mounts.

So forgive my ignorance of current Orange products but what’s the difference between an RX9 and a ‘speedwork’ frameset?

Don’t seem to be any numbers on the product pages and reviews for the speedwork seem a bit thin on the ground (or internet)…

The RX9 and Speedwork were always a bit of an afterthough/bandwagon jumping from Orange and entirely unremarkable bikes.

If you want a good budget alloy gravel bike – get a Sonder Camino.

Geometry and intended use.  Speedwork is more upright intended for flatbar use, the RX9 is a typical gravel bike, so longer, more relaxed, etc, but there’s not much in it.

The Speedworks has been previous year stock in the past, originally a year or two old Clockwork. That current version looks like the 2021 X9 IMO?

I had one of the early RX9’s and it was a nicely finished frame. Not sure where the cheap catalogue accusation comes from?

TBH I’ve been mulling my Road bike options lately but with more roady-esque gravel bikes in contention, the Colibri is more interesting to me than the Camino (currently) which is also cheaper than the two Orange frames, but I thought it worth a look at Orange still. I thought he speedwork might be more like a road bike, but it seems it’s more of a hybrid based on an old MTB fame design then(?)

Doubt I’d pop for either, but cheers for the responses all.

Geometry on the speedwork seems identical to the gravel / road frames with a 564mm ish top tube in large. That’s too short for a flat bar bike imo.  I think the earlier ones were based more on MTBs with longer top tubes.
