Not claiming credit for this, it appeared in an Edge 800 thread a while ago, but worth repeating at this time of year with loads of people potentially getting Garmins for Chrimbo.

Works on loads of models, just done our Edge 800 and Etrex 20. You can obviously add whatever text you want, so if you want "shut up legs" whilst its finding satellites, game on.

quite a lot by the looks of it, Ive got a friendly greeting on the Edge and a motivational one I like plus contact details on the Etrex.

You can change how long it displays for so if youre writing an essay you might want to give it longer than 10 seconds!

Just done my 810 and it's worked fine and is really easy to do.

I chose a 20 second display with a simple "this belongs to.." message.

Have fun.

Had it on my 705 & 800 and now have it on my 810, I don't think it's possible to do on the 1000 though.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this. It could prove to be a very useful feature, one day.

I've got two numbers on mine - one to call if the unit is attached to an unconscious me, and the other if it's all on its own.
