    Just got an email:

Channel 4 is looking for an all-round handyman, designer or engineer to present a brand new prime-time series. The working title is Making It In The Wild. Each episode one host will travel to the most extreme and extraordinary places on the planet to meet the families who have rejected the mainstream and built a home in the wild. However, their presenter isn’t just visiting to immerse themselves in different ways of life. Channel 4 want him or her to help improve their hosts’ home with an ambitious and life improving ‘build’ – from a whole new set of furniture to a wind turbine that generates electricity or dam to irrigate crops.
Channel 4 are looking for a presenter who is passionate about new ways of living, has a warm charismatic character, loves meeting new people and above all has the skills to build, fix or construct almost anything a new home might need! Or is not afraid to give it a go!

They’re working that rich “Kevin McCloud Man Made Home” seam at C4 arent they?.

Im sure we could provide a resourceful committee of STWers covering most of the bases.

Footflaps, Rusty Trowel & wrightyson: construction
    Troutie: lighting
    slackalice and kayak23: wooden furniture
    mcmoonter: decorating
binners: can do the greggs run.
and I’ll look after the heating system 😉

    Si:

If you think this could be you, please contact Rob MacAndrew at Rob.MacAndrew@renegadepictures.co.uk. Please send a couple of photos and a short email, or better still a video clip, introducing yourself and explaining why you would be the perfect person to meet families living ‘off the grid’ and help them improve their home.

If you friend needs any consultancy we’re all here waiting for him 🙂

Program will be useless without some sort of in-team conflict. Can I be the first to suggest TJ gets a call?

Will these people living off the grid need any very expensive IT systems?

    If so, I’m in.

I’m assuming they don’t need any flooring, Stoner? Otherwise, a certain Bristolian will be crying into his cornflakes at being left off your dream team.

There’s no way some impoverished wood-dweller could afford our Brisolian chum’s rates!

No chance, keep him and his 45degree nailer away from such projects!

I only qualify in the ‘is not afraid to have a go category’. Sounds like the sort of programme I’d tune into.
