My son has a Commencal SX frame and bought a set of bearings for it – upon removing the existing ones I found that the bearings supplied are different. What’s the deal? The bearings only contact a pivot on one side, so they would work, and they are the same diameter, so do fit… but there must be a reason Commencal supply the bike with one type… what will he get, just shorter life span?

    Existing are 3802  15x24x7

    supplied in the kit  680215x24x5

    thanks!

3802 is 2mm wider, does the 6802 kit come with a 2mm spacer?

Yep, that’s what I’m saying, the supplied ones are narrower. There’s no spacer, but as the contact is only on one side, I don’t think there needs to be? Just wondering how the performance/longevity will differ really.. or, of course, whether we should use them at all!

I’d stick with 7mm, even if the pivot bolts can thread in 2mm more, side load with wear the bearings out a lot quicker, probably make the frame feel flexier too.
