the Jacobs Ladder loop took 7 hours!

Blinkin’ flip! I’ll have to bail out early if things shape up in a similar way this time…

The mention of jelly babies has lured me

Boys please leave your egos at home, ‘cos I’ll be walking down ‘The Beast’ and am not ashamed to do so 🙂

I knew it was one of them that took 7! Remember that wind on Mam Tor that blew Pook off his bike?

Yeah, sorry about that, heavy night on the bitter and a full english sometimes does that

    Even from Marple? 😯

It was strong bitter. That’s why it knocked those jelly babies out of your hands.

7 hours? It wasn’t that long! But it was still slow. As Hora said, snow, wind and mechanicals all compounded the misery. N’mind.

I can’t have it being too long on Saturday anyway.

Not seven bloody hours! Maybe if you include the pub!

Anyway chaps/chappesses – it won’t be seven hours. Jeez.

“that’s the one I’m thinking of coming down, unless you know of another”
I don’t think you are, are you?
I thought you were going down here,(down the first inlet on derwent reservior)
My pic is the top of a fireroad not found on OS mapping on streetmap, only bing OS 1:25k and aerial photography I think (I’ve not worked out how to link in the right place on those yet)

“Boys please leave your egos at home, ‘cos I’ll be walking down ‘The Beast’ and am not ashamed to do so”
My mum can bike ride down ‘the beast’, well maybe 90-95% of it ..

The 7hr ride was cavedale/mam tor etc as I remember saying in castleton me and iain will take the shortcut back to edale……..the shock when you replied ‘over mam tor old road then’

Since then all pootles have been circa 4hrs. Trust me if it went that slow a group would be allowed to splinter off the front.

Yeah that’s it. I thought you were meaning that one from the description! Not to worry. I’m sure we’ll have enough Magellans with us on the day to navigate back up the top of Hagg Side. Maybe up here

So meeting in or about that paying carpark (with the posh toilets) next to Ladybower?

    Jamie

Is that meeting place near-ish the car park opposite Ladybower Inn? Only landmark I kinda know.

Jamie, from the ladybower inn, turn left over cutthroat bridge, you will see a sign for a pay and display car park on your left but there is limited free parking on the right side of the road too. If you get to the yorkshire bridge inn you have gone too far.

So how many people are likely to be turning up then Pook?

    Jamie,

Dunno! I used to take something of a register but it was too much faff. All I say is make sure you’re there within 15 minutes of the set time or you’ll miss us!

You won’t get lost. Take the bamford road over the bridge from the Ladybower in and we’ll be in the big car park down there. Heatherdene it’s called.

…..yep, you guessed it 😥 It would appear that a Peaks Pootle isn’t meant to be.

And I was going to bake this yummy flap jack to hand out, ya make it with condensed milk, extra nuts and fruit n stuff, bit of honey and bung it in the oven….SO good….alas!

Ladies and Gents, on saturday if you hear a strangled mancunian/huddersfield shout from the woods, don’t look. You won’t ever recover from the hideous sight you see.

I think he tried to do Paula Radcliffe once. It’s what got him into biking because he wasn’t fit enough to keep up by running.
