    Think I have this as I have a lot of pain under my knee when riding. Waiting to see doc and then probably physio but could take a while. Anybody had this and what's the best thing I could do for recovery? Ta

    Self diagnosis is a dangerous game.

    Wait to see what your GP says mate, then see a knee specialist.

    I suffered from it last year when I first started enduro racing, best get it properly diagnosed first, but mine was caused by poor cleat position. I was forcing my feet to be in a perfectly straight line rather than my more natural slightly toes out position. Set up properly and it disappeared.

    Just ride through it 😉 Thats what I do – can hardly walk downstairs some days – so don't take my advice 😉

    I've suffered from this before. Physio diagnosed too much seated climbing on the singlespeed as the probable cause (low cadence, high torque).

    Solution was quad stretching, knee bends, and remembering to vary position more – just because I could grind it up sitting down, doesn't mean I should!

    What Cooper and jonathon (I did exactly the same when I singlespeeded) said. Proper stretches and other exercises to strengthen the quads are the best defense.

    Thanks, Doctor said it was an R.S.I and he gave me some anti-inflamatories. They have done **** all, I don't think pills are a solution. I ride a singlespeed at work as I'm a courier. Just ordered some gears will see if that works.

    Gears'll be an experience 😉 I just went to 1×9 after about 6 years of singlespeed and it's incredible the amount of lactic acid that spinning in gears builds. I can't ride more than two hours without getting cramp in my thighs when 6hrs was no problem on the same trails 6 months ago.

    Best advice is to see a specialist, we all know.

    But in addition to doing that, I got my bike properly set up and found my seat post needed raising by about 2cm…I was mashing big gears without the leg extending properly, ergo massive strain on the knee…and also concentrated on stretching, especially the ITB. Foam roller is excellent for this too. But as mentioned, best to see a specialist who can give you proper advice having given you the once over.

    Glucosamine, chondroitin and omega oils.

    That's what my physio said this morning when I was in for the same thing.

    And lots of stretching. Mine ws due to poor patella positioning due to a tight iliotibial band.

    Highly recommend a visit to a good physo.
