Orange seal endurance vs Stans sealant

I’ve religiously used Stans for years as it’s always been about as good as you can get with sealant

or so I thought, got a puncture the other day and it just wouldn’t seal, it wasn’t even remotely big and this was relatively new sealant too

so is the orange seal any better?

I’ve tried muc off amongst many others and always gone back to Stans but never tried orange seal, this puncture should have sealed in my mind so wanting to try something else again

I’ve found stans very hit and miss over the years but in honesty that’s been the case with most.

Orange seal I’ve used a few times (one large bottle) and didn’t have any issue but I’ve not used it in enough volume to really have a valid opinion. – I could have got lucky with the tyre rim combo, not had any sort of damage etc. That said it could have been brilliant because the sign of a good sealant is you don’t actually notice it.

Don’t know if it’s the same stuff but I’ve got a big bottle of orange latex. Seems to see okay but the orange dye they put in it seems to stain everything it goes near. Switched back to Stan’s

I’ve been using Orange seal for the past four years or so and it seems to do the job and I see no reason to change.

Is the endurance version the same as the normal one? Just it lasts longer?

I will give it a shot it’s no dearer and it’s the only one I’ve not tried really

Found orange seal to be awful, dries to an ugly congealed mess all over your tyre in a matter of weeks, leaves an absolute mess, nothing there to seal a hole. And twice as expensive as Stans

I’ve been using Stans since around  2009 when I first went tubeless, it just works.

I also use Stans, been using it for 15 years, seems as good as any. Only problems have happened for me when it’s run dry.

Whereas I’ve used orange seal without problem, still having plenty of liquid sealant in the tyres after a Texas summer which I assume would give it a hard life.

Having always used stans, I have moved to silica this year. Very impressed, has sealed well when needed and I like that you can just top up with the refresher.

Definitely worth a look

I doubt I’ll use anything other than Peaty’s tape and sealant from now on

OKO Hi Fibre for me- same as Halo Fibre-tech incidentally, which got a good review on that link. It’s cheap (don’t buy at rrp ever), it works at least as well as stans, and it lasts better. Plus, it’s water based so if you think it’s drying up you can just add a little water to thin it again. (this doesn’t work if it’s completely dried out, though)

I’ve just bought the OKO high fibre to try, it’s thicker and got more bits in than Stan’s so I’d hope it can seal bigger holes. I’ve not yet used it in anger but the tyres I’ve seated with it have held air well so far.

I’ve found them all to be much of a muchness. Be realistic with your expectations, read between the lines of the marketing bullsh*t (“up to 1/4” doesn’t mean a great deal in reality, and if that hole is stretching & flexing, it’s not going to hold, even with all of the manufacturer’s claims), and don’t expect it to prop up bad taping/dented and poorly seated rims & tyres, or damaged tyres, and it’ll usually work ok if topped up regularly.
