aphex_2k,I’m currently listening to J.Period The [Abstract] vol 1. J-period mix of Q-Tip’s best stuff with some original vocals etc. The De La version of Excursions is amazing. Like seriously.
You may already have it. Highly recommended to all the heads
I like Clipping which if I remember correctly was suggested by DezB on a similar hip hop thread I started a couple of years ago….there’s some good suggestions on there.
A few tracks I really like that I have only discovered recently:
Another Aesop Rock project that may or may not have slipped under your radar is Hail Mary Mallon

They’re touring just now. States and Canada only unfortunately. I have even half considered going to one of the more interesting places for a wee holiday to see them. I think it would be an amazing gig.
Love this video of them rehearsing. Got to see Big Whizz playing with (what remains of) The Pharcyde recently.
So on a slight tangent, I’ve just started watching Luke Cage on Netfilx & have just noticed every episode of named after a Gang Starr tune.. how cool is that?

I went to the cinema this week and one of the trailers was for an animated film that looked like an X factor type thing. One of the characters was singing an old Digital Underground tune (Humpty Dance)!

Sing isn’t it? I’ve been listening to Scroobius Pip’s podcasts & it’s director is on it this week it’s got about 80 tracks in it, he’s got a broad musical taste of loads of people you’ve never heard of.
