Does anyone honestly believe this reunion is about anything other than the money? It’s obviously cynical, but then it always was.

It’s not a dig at them – they’ve got the potential to earn huge money, so why not? It’s not the ’90s; the music industry has changed dramatically, and revenue streams have been the catalyst.

    Is it worth the aggravation…

so what if it is? Most of us work to earn money. It’s normal.

Completely. They’ve been honest about that from day 1 of their career as a band.

The criticism of them getting the most they can for a reunion that is (no doubt) predominantly about earning money just seems bizarre, frankly.

Anyhow, in all the noise about Oasis reforming, I’m yet to see which version of Oasis that will be onstage.

If it’s Noel, Liam and their granny on bongos…it’s Oasis.

Yeah, nah. Needs Bonehead at least.

A friend of mine is trying to get tickets.

“Got to the front of the queue, it pinged me back to the start. Went back in and it brought up VIP tickets – rear standing for £357 each.”

I don’t get this snobbery thing. I’m from an almost conically working class background and don’t like Oasis. I find both brothers to be arrogant **** and the singers voice is like nails down a chalkboard to me. An horrendous nasal whine. It isn’t snobbery, just different musical tastes and/or a dislike of a couple of arrogant ****. Both in my case.

I wasn’t s fan but used to like oasis back in the nineties, until more recently working with a bloke who spoke so much shit about how great they were and also used to play guitar and sing oasis songs sometimes at break times, that I just hate them now.

Prices ranging from x to y until we decide to make prices up. I’ll bet the French wouldn’t put up with that shite.

I’m not sure either of them need the money, do they?

I reckon the idea of standing in front of thousands of adoring fans singing your songs must be pretty addictive. Rock stars gonna rock? Plus everyone swooning over Chris Martin’s Glasto performances must be difficult to watch if you’re in Oasis.

the dynamic pricing thing is not on. I don’t mind paying for tickets but driving prices up after queuing for ages is a crap approach

does anyone know anyone who actually got tickets and paid standard price? I don’t.

Nope, from a quick review of 2 people . All morning wasted queuing online to get to the actual purchase screen. Then get a message along the lines of ” the ticket you requested is no longer available but we have platinum standing tickets for £525″ . No thanks.
Love to know what the actual average price paid was, by how many hundreds of thousands of people.

It really is shocking – queue for hours then finding out they are charging  festival weekend ticket prices – but what do you do? It’s your only chance, you got through and you really want to see them…

I decided from the outset that I wasn’t going to try for tickets and I’m happy with that decision.

It’s blatant exploitation of the sunk cost fallacy of people who’ve spent hours in the queue. There will be those who can’t really afford those prices but who fall for it in the moment and hit the buy button.

Hopefully it’s the final abuse that leads to greater regulation of the sector and Ticketmaster have cut their own throats here.

Yes, I know someone who got tickets for Edinburgh at the standard price.

The group I’m with all got tickets (16 in total) for Heaton park at standard price but that was in the pre-sale.

Who’s actually at fault for the dynamic pricing thing? Everyone’s bemoaning oasis for it, like it’s directly Noel and Liam responsible, but surely it’s actually Ticketmaster, or which ever promotions company is involved?

As above, money is undoubtedly a factor in the reunion, the sums are boggling, but whether you like them or not, both brothers now have successful solo careers and they must receive pretty handsome royalty cheques, especially from Absolute radio and Radio X ? so I doubt they actually need it!!

Better the cash going to the act than them selling tickets at under market value and the profits going to ticket touts.  Too expensive? Don’t buy them.

Chatting to women in local pet shop – she paid ~£350 per standing ticket for 3. Her daughter had been online from 8am and got them at 4pm ish.

I queued on Ticketmaster website from 07:00 & eventually got into just their website at about midday. I then had to enter a queue for the venue & date (Wembley 02/08) and found over 348,000 people in front of me.

My son used the ticket master app and got straight on and into whichever venue he wanted. I downloaded the app and found that I could do the same and leapfrogged myself by over 200,000.

I got the notification it was my turn to find two seats available at £305.50 with a notification that the price had been set based on demand. As I pressed book the website crashed. I had to reload the app, log back in and get to the back of the queue. Life’s too short so no thanks.

Acts have to agree to the dynamic pricing, or at least their management do. The Cures management agreed to it without their knowledge and then cracked up when they became aware of it. They can opt out

£300+ to see a couple of has-beens is absolutely ripping the piss. Of course the whole time mugs people are willing to pay, it will continue.

I was in the queue until I had to leave to go up the Albion. My wife kept the app open, and as we were leaving the ground at 5pm she called to say she could get 3 standing tickets at Manchester for £355 each.

As much as I’d liked to have gone, and as desperate as my daughter was to get tickets, that’s insane.

The blame is 100% with the band, their management and promoter. They can easily turn the dynamic function off according to some guy from the umbrella ticket agency place.

Changed days. I saw the Stones at Glasgow Apollo in 1982. The gig wasn’t announced until the week before. I was in my flat a mile away from the box office when they announced it on Radio Clyde. By the time I walked up the queue vwas so long the stalls were sold out. I ended up front balcony.

    Tickets were £6.50.

I was wondering if my memory vwas playing tricks but no. Gigs not announced until the week before.

Absolutely – ‘back in the day’ you had to be invested to really find out about gigs. When I was a young teenager in the early 80s, I’d buy Kerrang, NME and Sounds (along with our local paper the Yorkshire Evening Post) and look through all the ads at the back to find out who were touring. Then I’d post a SAE along with a cheque requesting the tickets I wanted or, alternatively, get the train through to Leeds to go to Jumbo Records and purchase them directly.

Me, I did. 2 for £10. Only thing is it was back when they were decent. Wouldn’t even see em for a tenner for one ticket now !

This is about raising their profile before the rights to the songs revert solely to Noel. Then once streaming rates have increased and the tour over, he’ll be able to sell the catalogue for a huge sum that will dwarf the tour receipts (reportedly £50m to the artists). Queen sold their catalogue for £1bn. Oasis just need a little marketing prior to that sale, but won’t reach that sort of price. It’s a smart business move. I’m not really a fan, but they have a few good tunes that have stood the test of time.

Just spent £28 on a ticket to see Cardinal Black at Rock City.

Singer who can sing. Guitarist that’s unbelievably talented, 1000x better, and as you’d dee from his Friday Fretworks YouTube channel most weeks on the last 7 years,  intelligent, highly articulate, and absolutely and utterly not up his own arse,.unlike  chavs from Manc.

     a couple of has-beens

Have to take issue with these comments

I’m not a fan of the band, but they are still hugely popular as a band as has been shown by the demand.for tickets, and their solo work seems to be very popular. Liam can certainly still sell out a stadium tour nowadays on his own. Noel’s high flying birds project seem to be very popular.

It’s too easy for people to conflate music they don’t like with stuff they think isn’t/ shouldn’t be popular.

I detest Ed Sheeran. I think his bland banal dirge is some of the worst music ever created, but I’ll fully acknowledge his mass popularity.

I think ABBA are the worst popular group of all time. But I’ll still admit I’m in the absolute minority with that view and recognise the cultural impact they have

If someone starts a thread next time ed Sheeran tours, will you jump on that to tell everyone how bland he is!? -wink emoji-

I hope they haven’t got seats in the West stand.

Some of the seats for sale in the West stand at Murrayfield are in line with or behind the stage?

Don’t get me wrong, I actually do like their music. Saw them live BITD. They were massively relevant 30 years ago – they aren’t now. The nostalgia factor is huge, though. I’m not paying £300+ for that however 😉

Hence why folk still fork our hundreds of quid to see the Eagles on their umpteenth farewell tour

Ticketmaster app was hopeless for me, either got an error message or the spinning wheel of doom, then it shat itself completely and asked me to use a laptop instead, which I couldnt do as I was at work.  Not paying inflated resale prices either! (begrudge paying £150 tbh)

I reckon more dates will be added anyway

    Best Oasis tribute band names.

    My favourites are:

    • Oasish
    • Definitely MightBe

Will be considerably cheaper to see, more likely to turn up and probably sound better too.

My nephew got tickets for the first Cardiff gig, he said hotel rooms were about £400 a night per person and Air B&Bs were charging a grand a night, we’ve got a 5M bell tent so he’ll be glamping for free in our garden.
