Fair comment. I’d almost believe you if you hadn’t followed it up with another jibe. Or am I overthinking the ‘one good song’ comment too?

Most likely. It’s my recollection of the gig. Would you prefer it if I pretended to recollect something else?

An Oasis thread that includes two people pointlessly bickering, how very apt.

It’s not pointless, it’s a very important point about small venues.

    And he started it 😉

I’m one of those Knebworth knobbers…..

The Prodigy were bloody brilliant !!

Never bothered with Oasis again…. great songs but underwhelming live.

Oh and my cabbie mate says Liam really nice and Noel’s stroppy.

I see that the Maldron Hotel in Manchester has had an IT glitch that affected, and cancelled, only rooms already booked over the dates Oasis are playing. Odd coincidence that…

I think that particular IT Glitch has affected a number of Hotel chains across the UK across the past 24 hours according to twitter.

I was 11ish, just going into high school when Oasis mania kicked off, I remember it well and still have a listen to WTSMG every so often. I would have loved to have seen them in period and a few mates had older brothers and sisters that were old enough for it, but I never did.

I’m not bothered enough/cant afford the time or cash these days to join the mayhem for tickets and I do have my doubts about how good it actually might be.

However If your fancying a bit of reminiscing, without the cost, I do reccomend you have a look for yuor local ‘FakeFest’, who tour the country each year and book one that includes ‘Oasish’.

They are excellent – not because they are just like Oasis, but because they are just like how Oasis are in your imagination/dreams/memories.

They play well, sound the part, do a great parody of a Liam/Noel falling out, play the good stuff we know the words to and not the dross, its dirt cheap, its in a proper dingy circus tent thats not very big and you can get right to the front. Dont diss it till you try it.

    Oasish

So many fantastic Oasis tribute band names – Noasis and Oasisn’t are two more that I know of 🙂

Our 7 year old loves them (disappointingly he seems to have grown out of Kyuss extremely quickly).

He was the most excited in our house when he heard they were playing a concert, I suspect because he imagines something on the scale of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour which him and his mum watched on Netflix.

Not sure how to break the news to him that he’s not going!

Yeah I have seen Oasish a few times, there is a local annual tribute fest they normally play at. One year was particularly memorable – there was a guy right at the front, wearing whatever football shirt (can’t remember the team) the real Oasis would hate, and they spent most of their time between songs in-character ripping the piss out of him (in a good natured way!!) The rest of the crowd was loving it 🙂

At least he won’t be disappointed by the fact that there won’t be lightshows, bubbles, dancers, things flying across the stadium, and massive amounts of choreography, just a few scowling old men grunting across a stage at each other.

    Suggestions for support acts?

    Kasabian? Blur? ?

Given the audience it could be Chase and Status or the Prodigy.

I agree that I reckon the crowd will be filled with coked up young men in drink. I saw them 3 times in the 90s/00s so that’ll do for me.

    Blur

Absolutely not a chance in hell that Blur would support Oasis.

I think the Blur suggestion must have been sarcastic… at least I hope so, lol!

I cant’ see the prodigy doing either… much different crowd & I think they called it a day after keiths death?

There’s a chance, as they’re on really good terms, but I’d wager that the older part of an Oasis crowd wouldn’t be happy.

Noasis are playing in Hull this October so my gig guide tells me. Might be cheaper and they probably won’t not fall out.

Not now. Seen them enough. Played our students union in 1993. And I saw them many times after.

Same, I’ve seen them a number of times when good very good, but it was infrequent and not paying a nostalgia tax to experience that again.
I’d be reluctant to take kids to a Oasis gig not a nice environment.
Saw a vid of recent Liam gig that was similar.

I find it really interesting that forum member’s kids are “obsessed” by them.  When you were 16 to 25, were you listening to 30+ year old bands?  In the mid 90s, that would be like listening to early Beatles, or Elvis!

Went to see Pulp in Finsbury park last year and there was a very obvious contingent of under 21s who seemed to treat the whole thing as a cosplay thing. All trying to dress like 90s Jarvis, I assume all of the charity shops in and around London were completely out of velvet jackets that week.

We’ll be joining the Ticketmaster scam queue, but I won’t be heartbroken if weiss out.

We’re in at Heaton park on the 12th July. Just checked travelodges, all MCR ones are £250 ?

? Is supposed to be a laughing emoji, I’m not questioning why they’re so expensive!

    Richard Ashcroft as support?

Good shout. Foo Fighters supported when I saw them in Cardiff!

Stone Roses had a different line up each day of their Heaton park gigs, could be a similar thing, scope for a lot of acts.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Shed 7, coral, Kasabian, Cast, blossoms, catfish and bottlemen etc’. Courteeners? All the standard blokey indie. Sleaford Mods for a slight curve ball? Justin Hawkins seems pretty keen on his latest YT post.

Nope. Absolutely not.  Vastly over rated and over hyped.

I can only assume one of more of them needs a big wedge of dirty lucre to pay off a(nother?) Divorce or a dodgy geezer.

(Noel puts out music  infinitely better on his own).

Christ, I’ll almost be prepared to put money on Liam and Noel starting a scrap on stage halfway through the second gig, that’s if the Mods don’t start one with the Gallaghers first.

Honestly, I’ve never thought of either Gallagher being anything other than average as either a singer or a songwriter, that contrived nasal “Sheeeeiiiiiinnnnneeee” thing that’s a sort of cross between Lennon and Lydon, both of whom are vastly better than either Gallagher as both singer and songwriter, and I don’t rate Lennon all that highly either.

Oh God, shoot me now! Although, I have seen The Coral, and I do actually like their stuff. I saw them at Bristol O2 Academy along with Portishead, Massive Attack, and Robert Plant for the Tsunami appeal in 2005. Damon Albarn turned up as a special guest, Massive Attack had Liz Fraser on for Teardrop, and Massive Attack and Portishead did Glory Box together.

Altogether an incredible show. I think I paid about £30 for my ticket, and all for a good cause.

So, who’s in the queue/the queue for the queue/being disconnected from the queue with a 503 error?

I got in and got to a screen where I was in the main ticket queue and my browser was constantly crashing and reloading. This went on for 10 minutes then I got a messaging saying I was suspected to be a bot and kicked out the queue. What the hell is that about? Now I can’t get back in the queue.

Still queuing only 82,356 in front.

Well how predictable- the STW posters sneer at Oasis, too common I guess. Most would be Coldplay and Blur fans anyway ?

They’ll listen to them whilst pretending to be into bands as obscure as the overpriced artisan coffee they buy.

To be fair, STW posters sneering at STW posters who sneer at Oasis would be a fairly predictable outcome too. A story old as time itself.

Can we not talk about how Ticketmaster have clearly adopted the STW hamster model?

We were early in queue, waited, selected tickets, waited, got to payment screen and it had changed tickets to super expensive ones. Tried to change them then got bumped to back of queue. Not impressed

Yep, disappointing that Oasis agreed to dynamic pricing (I assume band must agree to whether price get boosted based on demand?)…got to front of queue but ‘In Demand Standing Ticket’ is £358.10. Rest are Platinum Seated so mega bucks

Less Rock and Roll Star, more Rock and Roll Swindle.

Never been a fan myself, but gutted for those of you trying and failing to get what were already high priced tickets.

    martinhutch

I wonder which tickets weren’t ‘in demand’?

Surge pricing on stuff which will sell out in a couple of hours…when is the low demand period then?

Cynical cash grab by the brothers, unfortunately, and Ticketmaster are their official touts, no better than the resellers they whine on about.

Well divorces are the expensive but should be paid off by the 5th gig.
