Nuts, bolts and screws storage

Have a roller cabinet with a couple of empty drawers so I’m looking at something like these to store odds and sods or screws etc in:

These are about £5 each, does anyone know of anywhere to get something similar but vastly cheaper?I’d need 10-15 or varying sizes if possible, if not I’ll stick with my takeaway trays 🙂

Tilt bins:

cut the bottoms off supermarket milk cartons, they even have a nice curve at the bottom to help getting the last few screws out.

Good shout wwaswas. If you have any shelving in your garage, glass jars – screw the lid to the underside. Voila, previously unutilised space and then that leaves your drawer for some low quality gentleman grumble.

Unless you regularly pull out individual containers then just get a bigger compartmentalised tray with lid. That way when you decide to move them its much easier, or if you want to take out and put on the bench or out to another room you are not trying to carry multiple small tubs and spilling on the floor.

Buy the right size and you can still easilly open the lid once drawer is open. Possibly even stack them to put odd/lesser used sizes on the bottom.

Hmm, milk cartons are quite a good idea and if I bout 2,4 and 6 pints I’d have different sizes too 😈

May have found some cheap Linbin type containers too. Don’t have any shelves for jars, I’d be worried I’d smash them too

Actually I like those plastic clippy boxes with lots of sections inside. I don’t know the official term! Then you can stack them side by side.

Just buy a plastic parts box from b and q and take the lid off. Fits perfect in mine.Something like this:

Check out some fishing gear stuff or tool cabs, you can get racks or chests with ikkkle and many drawers!

Got a few of these a few years ago and they’ve turned out to be very useful for nuts, bolts and odds & ends – clear business card holders:

I’ve got two organisers with those lift out trays in…smaller than the one below but the same inserts. Can’t have paid much for it so presumably a lot cheaper than buying seperates.

In Danish they are called a “sortimentsboks”.

I know ‘cos it says so on the one I got from Lidl.

My Danish is pretty limited otherwise though.

I got these. They fit 2 high in the bigger drawer in my halfords roll cab. Comes with a wall mounting kit too if you need it.

Get eating Altoids or smoking roll-ups and buy your baccy in tins.

Probably the best answer to what the OP originally asked for – those cases are a bit crappy for their intended use – the clips don’t secure well enough for carrying them around loaded up – but its a cheap way of getting the little compartments inside.

Screwfix also sell screws in cases that have similar (but not similar enough to be interchangeable) compartments in them, which would be a cost effective way of getting the compartments if you need to buy screws anyway

I’m slowly replacing some cases like the ones linked to by Rockthreegozy with sturdier Stanley Fat Max ones. So might have a fair few of the little compartments surplus to requirements soon
