    It’s an awful place all year round. My advice is to stay away…😉🙃😜

    Read though a whole page of replies looking for “It’s crap, don’t bother!”

    Glad to see ElShalimo and Drac have sorted it.

    I found this absolute gem of a coffee shop off the tourist trail last year whilst out on a ride

    It’s a lovely little cafe, Claire is also very nice. Use to stop for a sarnie and/or cake when passing when at work.

    Thanks @ahsat – I’ll add that to the list of cafes to visit on the bike.

    Regards noise in Seahouses, don’t worry the village is very quiet after 9pm.

    @Drac
    – You’re right about the Viking, back in the day there would be a police van and a panda car outside on a weekend, It would frequently kick off.

    Not sure what you mean about the caravan parks? They have changed a lot the last 20 years. Site fees are about £4-5k a year and a new caravan in the region of £100k, with the bigger ones nearly double that.

    Can’t believe there hasn’t been any love for Blyth or Ashington yet!

    I am rather upset that Blyth Spartans were relegated. My nearest away game and always an enjoyable trip.  Last time in August, I had a spin on the bike around Ashington before the game, spotting surviving coal age stuff etc.

    Well we arrived.

    You know what was said about the pubs not being noisy?  It’s quarter past 11 and there’s still a 3rd rate pub singer belting out 70’s tunes from the Schooner. Cottage bedroom is on the ground floor. ? Lucky I’m upstairs watching the Olympics catch up with a bottle of red.

    Dog has ready been for a swim in the harbour  and tried to rescue the Eider ducks. I think he’ll be having a bath every day.

    God no, he was awful,  like the ending act from an episode of Phoenix Nights.

    Tonight’s was much better, a young lad that did two sets first one on piano and second guitar and he could sing too.

    Been to Holy Island today, that was good and had fish and chips from Neptune’s which were up there with the best I’ve ever had.

    Have a fortnight in Ashganistan (Ashington), you can learn new skills, make new friends and learn a new language. You may not survive.
