Video my son Murray (17) and his mate Tom (18) filmed over the Easter weekend and Tom edited. Tom used a cable cam he’d made himself out of a length of climbing rope, a block of wood to mount the camera and two pairs of old skateboard wheels as runners (Knackered bearings acted as a brake). Think the result works great? – they’re now working on a DH edit filmed the same weekend.

That’s not bad, makes me want to go out and ride! The only bit I didn’t like was where the edit was timed with the music at the beginning… Not sure why but it didn’t seem as slick as the rest of the film.

    Boy done good… 😀

Nice vid of some nice riding. You’d never know the cable cam was home made.
The cornering shot at 1:25 I thought was a superb angle.

(can’t comment on the music edit as I’ve not heard it)

can’t be viewed in Germany as it contains unauthorised music. :/

I liked that, what was the music?

What camera was used for the filming? was it a different one on the cable cam?

    Nicely done.

Are all of the moves done with the cable cam or were there some slider shots in there too?

Wow, super professional! The “Fourth Wall” camera motion really makes for a flowing dynamic edit!

    Nice that.

Yeah, makes me wanna go out and ride….but I’ve already been out today, and I’ve just booked a day off tomorrow to go riding!

Thanks for the positive feedback – I’ll pass it on.

Camera was a Canon 60D – had his mates catching it at the bottom before it hit the tree!
He had a short metal runner mounted on a tripod that he pushed the camera along to get the other panning shots.
    Music was MS MR, fantasy.
alpin is the pinkbike link blocked in Germany?
Bike is ‘my’ Meta (2007 frame) – on his own Commie Supreme for the next DH/jump edit 🙂

Looks good! Lovely and sharp footage, cable cam works great and nice music. Very pro 🙂

While we’re doing home-made cable cams here’s a video that our club shot a few weeks back.

That’s really great. I’ve been looking to make something similar for my camera. I have some cord and pulleys and plan to make a platform/cradle with move-able counterweights for changing camera angle. Getting a staedy brake is probably quite key. Be good to have control over that for steep drops.

Do they have any photos of the gear they used?

    What tyres / Shock sag for on-bicycle-women-thieving ?? 😉

(also, for some reason, i really would love to see DannyM and ChrissA doing a “tandem” street trials video together?)
