Surely that’s just preparing for the family festival of the 12th? An inclusive event for all.

Because no one dares deal with the fallout of telling them they can’t do something.

That is a bonny bonfire tho. Impressive.

A quick search reveals it was dismantled last night under cover of darkness… Nope sorry got it mixed up. TBF it’s quite easy to imagine that thing would not be allowed, it’s utterly insane!

Is the Union Jack and the Red Hand of Ulster considered inclusive these days?

I’d laugh my head off if those guys fell off that.

Also, that’s leaning a bit, it’ll fall to the left when ablaze. I hope the neighbours are understanding bigots

@Brucewee apologies, my sarcasm notification must have failed – did you miss the attempt at a rebrand a few years ago?

Even if it doesnt fall on them how stupidly hot is that going to be in those houses whilst it is burning away.

“How is this even allowed? ”

You’ve not been to NI much have you?

Only in NI would this be allowed to happen. Unionist politicians won’t condemn it as they fear the backlash from Loyalist Paramilitaries and Communities. Completely unlicensed and unregulated. Those bonfires are filled with rubber tires, ffs.

    Oops, sorry.

Although, I guarantee someone somewhere is saying the same thing unironically 🙂

The lads at the top must get craned up, utterly terrifying. reasons aside, that’s impressive.

Ah, it’ll be fine – it’s at least 25 yards from anyone’s house

… but surely there’ll be a drive-by on a moped with a Molotov or two before the grand lighting is due

That is terrifying and impressive in equal measure.

Forgive my ignorance why is it being built?

Just see what happened in Scheveningen a few years ago for new year iirc, similar size bonfire on the beach well away from houses but then there was quite a breeze once it was going and set fire to quite a few houses, cars and bikes

To celebrate the victory of the Protestant William of Orange over the Catholic James II back in 1688 at the battle of the Boyne. Which was pretty much the end of James attempt to regain the throne.

Because if you take a toy away from a petulant child it will throw a massive tantrum and break something

This’ll be the fight of the century- loyalist paramilitaries vs the blue pallet people.

Nice lean on that. Long lens, I know, but not sure I could sleep well in those houses.

And what more reason would you need 333 years later to build a **** off great big bonfire to show your hate of your neighbours who read a bible (but probably don’t, but if they did bother, they would) with a different forward and whose Sunday morning gig MCs wear a slightly different frock.

Its going to be a fairly lively marching season here I think.

Also, they definitely climb up. If you look closely you’ll see some pallets hanging out the side. They stand on these as they hand pallets up.

    Mental! 🙈

Dont forget the need to march through their neighbourhoods playing drums and pipes badly as well.

It’s a handy distraction for the fact that their beloved Conservative and Unionist party have sold them down the river.

Definitely needs more flags though. You can never have too many flags

    NI

A hotbed of inbred religious bigotry.

The reason it’s allowed is it’s easier than overloading the hospitals with gunshot wounds and petrol burns.

    Imbeciles that need sterilised.

    Nope
They don’t give a shit about brexit or politics (non religious) , they just hate catholics.

Blaming brexit is pretty awesome mind. I’d have never have thought of that.

    I wonder why ?.

Lot of offences going on there by many individuals and companies. However I too would probably choose to break non-enforced laws over the consequences of not helping out a bit with this.

IANAL but: how were the pallets obtained and from whom, how were they transported to the site and using whose equipment and people licensed to drive it, how were tyres and furniture destined for recycling obtained, environmental laws, who hired the crane to them and how was it paid for, who operates the crane (do they have a licence, if not why were they allowed to hire), endangering property, fly tipping, …

Best that I don’t say what I think as a visit from the buckos intent on a little knee-capping would be…unwelcome.
The NIA did nothing to diminish the marching season and associated bonfires.
Johnson and frost with their attitude to the NI protocol are literally pouring fuel onto the fire – and appear to be too dim to recognise it.
The support networks which helped sustain ‘the troubles’ were never properly dismantled; a few motivated people with the right contacts…
