Is it me or have on ones generally just gone to shit since Brant Richards departed? His new brand stuff doesn’t get much PR either.

No they have always been a bit shit.

Pickle – PACT bikes I believe.

I’ve had a 456-evo full build from them which was great, including the bloke who was building it at the time phoning me up to run through a few things like tyre choice, stem length etc and to tell me it should be with me the next day (it was)…great service and a truly great bike.

Also ordered a 45650b frame only from there that I was able to build up myself, no ovalised headtubes etc

Would happily order again, if I didn’t already have a FS I’d be looking at a Codeine.

I’ve had quite a few On One frames and they’s all been superb to ride. Never had a bad experience with them but i guess you can only go on your own experience.

Mate has a 29″ Inbred + Parwood and thinks they’re great. He’s looking at a Codeine but the weight is an issue.

They’ve always been a bit meh to me and I can’t think of one I’ve ever really wanted. Whoever likened them to Sports Direct got it bang on IMO.

Yip. I was waiting to click the buy button when the 650b codeine came out but that has put me right off. Not because the stuff is bad but just the uncertainty over long term support, spares and warranty

No idea, but something similar with the same rear end has been on the miracle bikes (chinese) website for a few months, wonder if it’s a new front end to make it an on-one?

TBH I don’t mind buying cheap (<£200) steel frames from them. They were more often than not very good bikes. Likewise aluminium and Ti frames, I quite fancy a parkwood. And while I’d not be adverse to a carbon bike from somewhere else, the idea of mid priced imported cheap carbon just irks me enough that I’d rather spend either more on another brand or less and get a metal one.

I think an intrinsic part of the O-O brand was “My bike is cheap, and I don’t give a ….”. In an industry that gave us “cheap, light, strong, pick two” it threw up a middle finger and said “cheap and strong” when everything else went light and expensive. You could turn up on an 456 when everyone else was on exotic FS bikes, and not feel outgunned, there was such an inverse snobbery attached to them that they were almost beyond reproach.

Remember the days when On-One ‘launches’ were shot from the back of the container and the biggest development news was whether the new bike would be an 853456 or a SS only 29er Inbred?

Seriously though, if you’re worried about long term support, spares and warranty you shouldn’t be looking at on one in the first place.

Its similar but quite different at the same time. I like the look of it but it’ll probably never happen / be out of stock / the most common thing on the trails / have a square seat tube / delete as applicable and I’d never buy an OO anyway

Marzocchi are a quality brand with a reputation for serious durability, they have production booked for the entire 2016 season and spares availability for all the current models out way beyond that.

No matter who buys them you’ll still be riding your 2016 zokes long after everyone else has worn out their current fox and rockshox forks.

Front triangle is very different. Not surprising, carbon molds aren’t one piece, so they could have their own front triangle mold and be using the same back end.

That in itself doesn’t bother me, it’s not any different IMO to ‘custom’ steel frame building, which involves putting the same 853 tubes together, often at the same angles and then paying a price proportional to the branding (between an Inbred 853, a Mk1 Cotic Soul and a De-Kerf).

I just can’t get my head around the fact I bought On-One’s to be cheap and thrown about, then applying that to a carbon frame. Having said that, a C45650b with a lower BB wouldn’t go amiss at the right price.

Well the shortest lived frame and the best put together new bike I’ve had both came from PX/OO.

They are quite inflexible with their lower end bikes, if you look at the build options on the website you can see this – and once your bike is in “the system”, you won’t get them to change things. If they did, the price would go up as it would take them longer. A lot of people (in fact most people I know that have had a “bad” experience with them) fail to realise this. You can customise the build if you’re spending more on a bike, this seems fine to me (or you can order additional parts to customise a cheaper bike if you want)

When I did have a short lived frame, I got a warranty replacement quite quickly, which wasn’t what I ideally wanted but was better than I’ve had through more than one well regarded LBS with various other warranty issues. So yeah I’ll carry on buying from them if they make the right bikes. Marzocchis won’t need any spares for at least the lifetime of many of their competitors based on my past experience, so I would happily get a bike fitted with a set.

The multiple brands are just confusing though. I could understand the PX/OO divide (except for the occasional PX mountain/jump bike), but the other brands beyond steel Holdsworths are just strange.

Depends how long ago that was.

I still have a set of MX-pro’s (from back when the bushings were user serviceable).

Then they went through a phase of good but heavy forks.

Then they went through a phase of dampers that lasted no time at all.

Then they went through a phase of good but heavy forks.

Then they went through a phase of OK forks with stanchion coatings made of cheese.

Marzocchi are definitely one of those companies you can buy a good secondhand fork, or pick up a bargain in the sales. I’d go nowhere near a new fork from them!

I’ve got a set of Z1s on a hack that have never been serviced and still perform well with no sign of wear. ‘They don’t make ’em like that anymore!’

The only zocchis I’ve ever had pissed oil out the lowers straight out the box, went back to windwave for a warranty claim, came back supposedly repaired and still pissed oil. Sold them after 2 rides and bought some Lyriks which were faultless. Not a fan.

The new marz suspension could be amazing or it could be a bit duff.

It’s a gamble, a bit like buying an On One.

STRANGE Bob, as all the RS forks I have ever had, I encountered the pissing oil in box new feature.

All Marzocchis for me have been faultless but my last set were 2004 mx comps.

I think I have had issues with every set of RS forks I have ever owned.

I must be lucky, I’ve never had a problem with any forks!

I’ve only ever had 2 pairs of forks let go, Totem Solo airs, which were renowned for it and the first pair of Pace MXCD to leave the factory which blew the contents of the damping cart straight into my face.
