Yesterday, my road ride was beset by groups of pheasants in the road, just small groups, doing nothing of any apparent consequence, and when I approached on the bike they initially froze and then suddenly scattered in all directions – usually the same direction I was trying to take – with much shrieking and carrying on
Today, on my commute, most of the undergraduates of Nottingham University were displaying exactly the same behaviour on the shared footpath/cyclepath.
Now, I’ve never seen pheasants and students in the same place at the same time, so I’m beginning to wonder if there isn’t some sinister explanation for this “coincidence”
