Ive got a Samsung android phone and my contract has come to an end and i have a new SIM card from my new service provider.

My contacts (phone) seem to be stored randomly between google, my phone and my currnt SIM.

How can i move them all to my phone so i dont lose all my contacts phone numbers when i install my new sim?

Thanks

Ian

Don't.

Move them all to your google account via the contacts settings (it's got the option of where you store your contacts.). It'll have the option to ignore duplicates.

Having all the contacts stored in the Google cloud mean you won't have to type on facebook "lost phone...pls txt ur number..fanx" like a daft 15 year old girl...!

Yeah, it's much better to have them all associated with your Google account, not stored in your phone.

I seem to remember maybe 15 years ago when deciding to try & sort this kind of mess out having to trawl through all my contacts, work out which ones were stored on the SIM, which were on the phone & which were on Google. Then I spent an evening making sure they were all transferred over to my Google account & have never had to think about it again.

Just make sure when you add further new contacts, it is stored to your Google account when saved. I think my phone has that set as default.

First off, don't use your SIM to store contacts - yes that was the idea back in the 90s but these days just store them all as Google contacts and there's no portability issue

Second - apart from the sim contacts that you're no longer using, the android "move to new phone" app will take care of phone contacts for you if you get a new device

Third - if you're using the standard Android contacts app then select Fix&Manage then settings/choose default account which will apply to new contacts you create, and in the F&M menu also turn on backup so device contacts get synced with your Google account.  There's alow a Manage SIM option there to shift things from your SIM to Google contacts
