    Just seen a moth wizzing round the garden, it had a long nose/bill type poity bit and seemed to hover like a humming bird.. Any ideas wot it is?

    I've just seen a platypus with a sort of duck bill? Any ideas?

    i thought I saw a hummingbird a little while ago. i'd seen the size, the hovery flight, beak thing out front.

    I got all excited, followed it to see it land, and it turned out to be a stag beetle.

    Maybe you can see from this how I might have been fooled, but maybe not!

    Hummingbird Hawk Moth indeed. I took this photo in the Pyrenees last year. I didnt realise they could be spotted in the UK though!

    Last time I saw a Hummingbird Hawk Moth must be around 25-30 years ago. Global warming? Per-lease, the planet's been cooling for several years.
