Sony make some excellent phones that fit the bill.
I was looking at a Sony in a shop window the other day. Thought “oh, that’s quite nice” then saw the £1,299 price tag next to it. That’s a wedge for something CEX will give you £40 for in three years time.
Not all Sonys are that expensive – a previous-gen 10- or 5- series is very close in spec to the current gen and can be had for reasonable money. The 5-series is basically a 1-series with a bit less RAM.
If your priorities are SD card, camera quality and headphone jack then Sony Xperia 1, 5 & 10 are the best phones IMO – I’ve been buying previous-gen 5-series for years now, no regrets. My wife recently bought a refurbed previous-gen 1-series for less than the cost of a new 5-series – absolute bargain. Sony 1-series are basically like BMW 7-series – the people who tend to buy them always want the latest & greatest at any cost, so last year’s model can be had for (relative) peanuts.
