I'm running the 2.35 Single ply 60a Minions (DHR on the rear, DHF on the front), and pretty happy with them to be honest, but I've heard a bit about running the front tire on the back, and wondered if I could get any better.

Are there any disadvantages to putting a DHF on the back?

Is there any benefit of going to 42a compound or 2.5", on the front, or will that slow me down a lot?

Really appreciate any experience you guys have.

Oh, riding an Orange 5, mainly in South Wales (trail centers and Brecon Beacons) with trips up to the Lakes.

    Cheers!

I always have 2.35 super tacky on the front and 2.35 60a on the rear. Works really well for me and after two weeks in the Alps this summer they will be going next year too !

A DHF on the rear will work fine, but a High Roller would be better. 42a on the front and 60a on the rear is a good combo for sure. Bit draggy but good compromise between grip and roll.
