Out walking with my other half yesterday afternoon. Very nasty looking crash just past (or on?) Jacobs Ladder. Loads of Mountain Rescue and Ambulance staff in attendance. He didn't seem to be moved for a long time and MR had oxygen and a saline drip in use plus a defib to hand.
Anyone on here know who this was and if he was OK?

Edale MRT usually post their rescues up on the website. doesn't appear to have been updated to include that one, though. Maybe check back later?

Could it have been a training course? If not, that is sounding a rather severe incident - hopefully the rider is ok and everyone else is as well.

Rode down jacobs ladder last wednesday, was thinking you could have a proper nasty crash on it if you were unlucky.
Mate is a member of Kinder MRT (based in Hayfield) - it wasn't them who responded so was probably Edale MRT. MRT in general not running exercises at the moment due to COVID so likely it was for real 🙁
Without wanting to go into to much detail there was a concerned citizen picking up helmet and backpack etc, plus a lot of moans and a few very significant screams when they tried to move him (at least he was conscious). I can say with quite a high level of confidence it was real.

That's the incident. Yes it was a bit further on than the bottom of the ladder, but i did wonder if he had fallen on the ladder and somehow managed to end up where he lay (carried?).

Standard. Pay attention down all the massive technical gnar core, take great care etc.
Finish that, get onto the "smooth" bit, relax, stop paying attention and BANG.
A mate did the same sort of thing once, finished a MTB ride, pulled up outside his house, didn't unclip, fell over and shattered his ankle. After riding miles of technical trails with jumps and drop-offs, he fell over on a smooth bit of tarmac at 3mph. Was off the bike for 2 months.
Hope the guy is OK and on the mend quickly.
The link above says it was an ebike, possibly going 15mph over a technical area and lost control and stopping abruptly and fell off.
Easily done, I know a few people who have ridden bikes for years, then get an ebike and don't adapt and the power sometimes catches them out in silly places.

No trolling, as a retired firefighter, elderly parents, immune compromised wife, a daughter in the Police, another daughter in adult care leaving services.... I give these matters some thought. Perhaps you should too julians?

My worst off-road accident was like this. Bruised ribs and knee 100 metres from the end of the trail on a bit you could ride on a shopping bike. Took a couple of months to get back to normal. The shame is still with me.
