baggies are an image only thing

Where do you put your keys?

Camelbak regardless of if I’m in baggies or lycra.
Riding with keys in my pocket sounds v. uncomfortable.
But that might just be cos I have a lot of keys…

Can the same not be said about lycra when being worn by people who aren’t going fast enough for any noticeable aerodynamic advantage?

And if you have no camelbak?

I take off just my car key and it goes in a velcro pocket in my shorts.

OP, sorry but it sounds very much like some people out on the trails made some friendly jokey comments/banter, you took them the wrong way then bitchily/trollingly posted them up here making out the other riders were being unpleasant – meanwhile having a good sneer at people who choose different clothing/bike styles to you.

    Sound pretty accurate?

I clench them in my teeth.
Why would I have no camelbak if I’m planning on taking stuff with me?
Seat pack. Back pocket of my roadie/xc jersey. Gaffa taped to my top tube.
Anywhere but digging into my leg in a shorts pocket.

There’s nothing like a bit of unamusing banter for making people look like idiots…

Regarding baggies being an image only thing – I’ve yet to come across lycra that’ll keep you dry for as long, be as warm in the wind whilst not being too warm in the heat, and prove as protective when you encounter foliage or crash. And if you don’t bother with padding (I don’t) and use synthetic stretchy boxers than you can cut down on the laundry when it isn’t muddy. If you’re wearing baggies over lycra on hot days then no wonder they’re too hot!

Statements that “X is all about image” makes you look as blinkered and foolish as those you were ridiculing in your original post. It’s never black and white, it’s never simple, but forums thrive on such overtly biased views…

Errr…no, where have I been bitchy? I already said I wasn’t bothered and put it down to banter. Was just interested in others thoughts on these comments, but you had to make it personal didn’t you. You sound like you’re the one with the problem matey, to take it so seriously.

I have few keys for that very reason. Can’t understand people who have massive agglomerations of metal weighing their trousers down.

Now is it just me, are these chaps late to the party and feel that the must have 6″ minimum, frt & rear, to get round a trail centre?

baggies are an image only thing.

How is that not being bitchy?

    I gather there’s a vacancy for a new ‘big hitter’ here…

Nope, still can’t see how that’s bitchy.

I have a lot of doors I need to open…
As an aside I actually suffered from a broken car key earlier in the year – thankfully I still had my house keys on me and not in the car, so I could get inside my house and get my spare.
So now, all my keys come with me.

Does it really matter…? Wear what you like and feel comfortable in. I used to wear Lycra all the time back in the day but moved to baggy shorts as I find them more comfortable and understated. However, I still sometimes wear full thermal roubaix bibtights in the winter if that is what comes to hand or water-resistant 3/4 bibs under waterproof 3/4 baggies – shock horror!

If you have a 6″ full suspension bike and wear Lycra or prefer baggies and a xc orientated hardtail – who really cares. Just get out and ride your bike! All this Lycra is for the serious rider or only fit for roadies or baggy clothing is only for middle aged fat people is rubbish and really lazy – as are all the repeated derogatory comment about people who ride fully rigid or hardtails not being “hardcore” or people riding 6″ trailbikes needing “skill compensators”…

The only people who we should be feeling negative towards are the overly judgemental, rude, inconsiderate and outright aggressive.

I have front door key, garage bike lock key, mobile bike lock key and garage door opener on mine. The car key fob thing is separate – that’s all I have.

So what was actually the point of your OP exactly?

I commute with lycra and bar ends.
    I also avoid trail centres.

Graham you live in a shed in the woods, so that’s to be expected! 🙂

i’m being bitchy, people lard about in baggies because they are to rotund for lycra. I have this knowledge from personal exeriance. Take note of it if your partner buys tou some baggies and suggests your TT skin suit no longer suits you.

(edit) what’s happened to the big hitters then? As mentioned above.
