Went for a nice ride today west of Winchester, Crab Wood, Farley Mount, Parnholt Wood. Somewhere, my Garmin detached itself from its holder without telling me. There were a lot of riders out today, so if anyone came across it, I’d love to hear from you.

Sorry, wasn’t out that side today but it might be worth a message to the Hampshire Countryside Service on Facebook – they manage much of that area (along with FC) and their depot is at Crab Wood, so it might get either handed in or left for a ranger to pick up. You could also try a post on the South Downs MTB Trail Spotters FB group if you don’t get any luck on here – hope you get it back.

Thanks, those are really helpful suggestions, which I’d not thought of. As it happens, I’ve just found it!! Went out with a mate to put up some ‘Lost my Favourite Toy’ posters. Near the start of the trail, just past a rooty bit, saw something glinting in the low evening sun. About a foot to the side of the trail, nestled in the ivy, but pretty much in full view there it was. Two of us had re-ridden the trail twice on Sunday, and not seen it. My piece of inner tube has now been uprated to two pieces, and my phone number is going on it somewhere. I’m going to customise the startup screen if possible on that model.

Plug it into your computer, then look in the Garmin folder for a startup.txt file. Should be able to edit that for a startup message.

Worth using a lanyard around the handlebars as well.

Thanks, will have a look at the txt file. I’d been wondering about the lanyard – have to be short to avoid unintended consequences..
