I’m toying with the idea of picking up a Hello Dave frame at its reduced price (£300) on the PX website as I’ve enough spares to build it up to a bike.

Before I pull the trigger, alongside this be a semi-stealth-wanted-ad, is there anything else I should be looking at in the same price bracket?

Bird Zero mk1’s are not much more than that:

2023 Ragley Big Al if you can find one. Even at the RRP they’re good value.

I have an XL Hello Dave and it’s great. You can absolutely wring it’s neck but it’s also fairly happy just bimbling around.
Steel so you don’t have to give a 2nd thought to rocks bouncing off the downtube at Antur Stiniog.

I’m 6’5″ and it’s more than long enough for me to move around on.

Its more a wheels on the ground plougher rather than riding it like an oversized BMX like ‘hardcore hardtails’ used to be.

Almost feels like stealing it for the £169 a lot of us paid

That’s got to be CRC closing down sale.

I’ve usually paid around the 200 quid mark for various hardcore hardtails. Looking at some of the prices now I wouldn’t bother. Around 400-900 for a boneshaker, I don’t care how fancy your gussets are just no!

Edit – Those Bird frames on sale look a bit more realistic
