Thank you, it’s a composite of roughly 12 images and lot of post processing much more than I normally like to do. I feel like it’s cheating but the final image looks so cool I can live with it.
Took one photo to get the tower exposed correctly. I think this was around 30secs, it was quite dark and I used a low ISO to reduce noise. The sunset on this image was blown out and mostly white.
Took another photo to get the sunset exposed so that the colours stood out I think this was around 2 secs, I also increased the saturation a lot and used a warm white balance setting again to bring out the orangey hues. The tower in this shot was mostly black and like a silhouette.
Then multiple 5 sec shots for the ISS stitched together to form one continuous line. It was still twilight so I couldn’t use a longer exposure as the sky was becoming very bright and hard to separate the ISS from the sky. I then increased the contrast to make the ISS stand out from the sky a bit more.
I then merged all three photos together (the tower, the sunset and the ISS trail) using layer masks to only select the part I want from each photo to create the final image. The camera was fixed on a tripod the whole time so no alignment needed between each photo.
