IN a few weeks a bunch of us are heading to the Lakes to tackle Helvellyn on bikes. Having looked at the met office mountain forecasts it looks a bit dodgy.

Just after some plan B routes, we are staying at Brotherswater in Patterdale and will be doing a loop up the side of Ullswater one day, but need a good route for the otherday if the weather is horific.

What for 3-4 WEEKS in advance?!! Weather on Helvellyn can change by the hour, what metcheck says the day before can probably be ignored never mind the long-range forecast!
I’m sure simonfbarnes will be along shortly to recommend a route from there…
