Anyone know what the weather is typically like in Japan in October?

I went in October a while ago. Bit humid but mostly quite warm and dry.

Definitely warm enough at night to walk around in a T.

Assuming Tokyo. Some nice colours to take in iirc.

Was at Grinduro in Hakuba last October and it was very similar to temps we’d have over here at that time of year… but we were at 1,200ft above sea level. Glad I wasn’t camping as the folks who were looked frozen in the morning!

Tokyo is great from late autumn and over winter – quite often dry and blue skies.

Went to Japan last October/ early Nov for about 5 weeks.  Weather was perfect – probably best time of year to visit.  In Tokyo it started off mid 20s and mainly sunny, by Nov a bit cooler, but still nice.

The summer is brutal. Autumn or spring are the best seasons for traveling. October should be perfect.

I never found it that brutal in summer. My point is if you get the  chance to go to Japan any time of year take it.

Japan resident here. October is fine month to visit. The heat/humidity of summer and the typhoon season are both typically finished. Be aware that viewing the changing of the leaf colours is extremely popular, so some areas, e.g. around Nikko, can be very busy. It’s still warm enough to ride in the mountains with just a light windproof for the downhills. Plus the autumn foods like mushrooms, houtou noodles and persimmons are ace.

If you check the online weather reports, you’ll see that much of the country has temperatures in the mid to high 30s through July and August, with very high humidity. If you want to do anything outdoors, it’s not a good time to visit large parts of the country. Autumn and spring are much cooler and less humid, really nice weather in October generally.

Yeah Oct is great, the weather is lovely and not too hot and humid. Colours in the mountains are fantastic, you’ll be too early for the cities though.

It was lovely last year – we went at the start of October, which was a little early for good leaves around Tokyo latitudes. Shorts and t shirts weather. 🙂

I spent ten days in Sapporo art the end of October, I seen some rain but not like the wet dreariness we seem to get.
