Doubtless like you, I really enjoy this forum in the main: the black humour, the joshing, the knowledge and helpfulness. But three posters in particular made me feel unhappy on a regular basis. Happiness is really valuable to me, as it should be to you, and I see no reason why I should compromise it, or my enjoyment of the forum. The kilfile helps me avoid contact with the tiny tiny minority of posters who frequently upset me.

Peace of mind? Control by another name. Dress it up however you want if it makes you feel better and justifies your choice. Killfile is clearly a crutch for you to assist you to do something that most people achieve without a problem. . Make no mistake, the problem is with you.

Happiness is very important to me too. I don’t feel the need to exercise control over the views or personalities of others on public forum. To do so would make me unhappy. Because I would be avoiding the real issue.

I’ve read all that back, I sound like a right bastard. Sorry. I can’t think of another way to say it without diluting the message.

When I used it there were some people I just did not want to read their posts in much the same way I would switch over if it was jim davidson on telly or mute it or avoid Top gear etcc
On a forum this is harder to do so kill file is just a quick and easy way of avoiding the words of someone you dont want to read

Apart from those examples not being trolling the link you provide causes MalWareBytes to wake up and shout at me. Not a 100% safe link.

When I deleted all the channels that I’m not interested in on my telly I hadn’t realised that this feature was an emotional crutch. I just thought I was deleting crap that was of no relevance to me.
But having seen how weak this means I must be. I’ll now go and reinstate QVC and thus make my life more fulfilling.

I completely fail to see any similarities with the issue being discussed. Presumably your blocking software doesn’t block threads, just individuals. So to make an analogy with watching TV you would need to be able to watch TV programmes but with the exclusion of certain personalities which you don’t like, an unlikely scenario to say the least.

For the record I have no problem with anyone using blocking software, in fact it mildly amuses me – the thought of a grown man/woman lacking the maturity and self-indiscipline to ignore comments and not get wound up by someone who is presumably inconsequential to their lives. It smacks of putting your fingers in your ears and saying loudly “la-la-la can’t hear you”……rather childish, but also rather amusing.

I think mainly what is the contributory factor of folk on here being rude op, is that they are 40yr olds going no where who should be working and that they don’t get laid, well maybe laid off…

My opinions have clearly touched a nerve junkyard, but if you go back through the thread I think you’ll find you were insulting people a few pages before you and I started off.
