I doubt it but will suggest Goodfellas.
Oooh good call.
Terminator 2.
Dude, where’s my car?
Back to the future.
Fifth Element
No
Half the people posting on that other thread have all the imagination of a house brick, the rest are lovely.
EOT
Die Hard
+1 Goodfellas.
Not a big fan of the others mentioned. Except tomhoward's suggestion, which, unfortunately I haven't seen.
Interstellar
The Martian
Leon?
Fargo
I gather not of all of us have yet seen Mammia Mia 2 - Here We Go Again, but I imagine that'll probably be a winner
Toy Story, unless some people are truly miserable then we will have a definitive list
Surely - Jack Nicolson's finest:
The Departed
The Shining
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Billy Liar the b&w version Tom Courtenay and Julie Christie
The Full Monty.
The Great Escape.
Agree with all of the above btw!
How about this one?
Nope. Not Goodfellas for me. Sorry.
The Matrix?
The one I Sky+ed last night - Deliverance
Goodfellas +1
The film that made me realise Aliens/Star Wars etc weren't that good really.
Deliverance is a classic too. Hard to evaluate 70s films these days.
Charlie and the chocolate factory
Surely – Jack Nicolson’s finest:
The Departed
The Shining
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Yes to the 1st, no the 2nd and 3rd, replace them with Chinatown.
Cinema Paradiso
You can't not like Southern Comfort. It's just not possible. 🙂
Southern Comfort - awesome - not seen it in ages. Walter Hill made a lot of great movies with some dross later on.
Sorry, can't stand The Matrix.
I've tried, honest, but still don't like it.
Mad Max 2 - Road Warrior.
Fury Road was almost an amazing counterpart if it wasn't for the reliance on slightly too many visuals, and over-grading.
Eagle Vs Shark
I find the Departed entertaining but well down the trough for Scorsese proof that the Academy thought he might die soon.
I gather not of all of us have yet seen Mammia Mia 2 – Here We Go Again, but I imagine that’ll probably be a winner
That will be a license to print money.
Kermode actually broke down about how good it was. 5 Stars from him!
I will be going to see it.
Jean de Florette / Manon des Sources
The Unforgiven?
Contact (the Jodie Foster/MattMcCon sci-fi)
Grand Budapest Hotel
Moonrise Kingdom
Limminy Snickets Series of unfortunate events
The Grinch
The Cat in the Hat
Jaws
Close Encounters
First Blood
Rocky
the good the bad and the ugly
I think Terminator is better than T2 as much because it wasn't trying to live up to/ surpass the first.
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest is a great film - it was years after it was released before I saw it (no reason, just didn't see it at the time of release) and was stunned.
A couple of suggestions rather than critiquing the choices of others: Dr Strangelove and Some Like it Hot. Both comedies but at different ends of the humour spectrum.
Jaws
Life of Brian
Dr Strangelove
The Big Lebowski.
Shaun of the Dead.
The Wrong Trousers.
The Italian Job.
Can't see anyone disliking these?
Yeah, definitely The Italian Job. Mos Def is particularly good in that.
I'm on board with Leon.
Ditto Toy Story.
Die Hard?
Spirited Away? Bloody masterpiece.
Surely Hunt For The Wilderpeople ticks all the right boxes to be an STW Favourite?
Tremors. I've yet to meet a person that doesn't like Tremors.
Robocop (Original not remake)
I've never seen Rocky. Nothing against it, just now been around when it's on.
Not keen on Close Encounters, but couldn't say it wasn't really a good film.
But yep, all the above, Matrix excluded. 🙂
Chicken Run
Groundhog Day
Honey I shrunk the Kids
Paul
What YoKaiser says.
I've taken the liberty of listing all the above films I like (some I haven't seen)
Goodfellas.
Back to the future
Tremors
The Martian
The Departed
Jaws
I'll add:
Shawshank ( I think it's good, not great).
The Dark Knight
Fight Club
Forrest Gump
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Gladiator
Alien(s)
Django
And Heat...
We must be able to find one of those we all like?!
Back to the future.
Home Alone
Ghostbusters
The Mummy
Toy Story, unless some people are truly miserable then we will have a definitive list
Surely Toy Story is a winner?
🙂
Kind Hearts and Coronets.
And definitely not Forest Gump, Gladiator or Aliens for me. Good films though. I just can't get past the story, acting or script. Never connected.
Can’t see anyone disliking these?
You must be new around here...
Contact (the Jodie Foster/MattMcCon sci-fi)
The only film I ever walked out on.
Jaws, Back to the Future and Toy Story.
There can't be any haters for those shirley
+1 Forest Gump
+1 Toy Story
Rocky
Rain Man
Top Gun
ET
Jaws
Great film, would have preferred the version about the shark though 😉 Hello to All
So, no. Apparently not.
What’s wrong with Contact then?
Is it the science but that’s confusing you?? 💋
The Princess Bride
What’s wrong with Contact then?
Is it the science but that’s confusing you??
Long dull drawn out rubbish.
"Oh no they blew it up"
"It's Ok we built another but kept it secret"
Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Snatch.
The Trueman Show.
Toy Story is a good call, just noted that it was released 23 years ago! Up is another good Pixar film but a bit slower paced - Squirrel!
Pixar? Has to be The Incredibles. And the Incredibles 2.
Someone listed some Tom Hanks films. Nope!
Casablanca?
Shawshank is hard to dislike.
Someone listed some Tom Hanks films. Nope!

OK, I liked Toy Story I suppose, but The Incredibles is infinitely better.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Tell me i'm wrong ?
Edit .... Im wrong .... I meant ..... Raiders of the lost Ark .... lol
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Tell me i’m wrong ?
Edit …. Im wrong …. I meant ….. Raiders of the lost Ark …. lol
TBH, they're both good, so is the Last Crusade - yep, those 3 great films, I'm glad that's the only ones they made, and lets leave it at that.
Shawshank is hard to dislike.
I find it cloying
“It’s Ok we built another but kept it secret” - I liked this pay off it was very typical of a billionaire's attitude!
You walked out near the end then!
The film is nearly as good as the book. Sagan juggles so many great themes.
Shawshank
Usual suspects
Time travellers wife
Time travellers wife
You were doing so well too.
Forrest Gump
Boogie Nights
+1 for Goodfellas too
Casablanca
Surely this?
Jaws, Back to the Future and Toy Story.
There can’t be any haters for those shirley
Well....
Sagan juggles so many great themes
He wrote a book as well as winning the World Championship?
Jeez, come on! Indiana Jones? Nah. Like James Bond in stupid costumes.
Usual Suspects is another one, when you know the twist… (Plus the real life twisted twist)
So then, so far we have -
Raiders of the Lost Ark,
Toy Story
Robocop
The Princess Bride
Dead Mans Shoes
Do we? I thought we had
Goodfellas
Jaws
Tremors
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Heat
Ronin
Leon
