Forgive my ignorance, but can you hotspot an iPad which is using WiFi. I know you can use a 4/5g network to hotspot, but can you do it if the device is plugged into a WiFi network?

You mean your iPhone is connected to WiFi (at home or otherwise) and you want to connect your iPad to the phone to share the connection? No, I don’t think you can. Connecting to WiFi on the phone will disable its hotspot.

Also why would you want to?

That’s what I wanted.  I’ll be in a situation where only one device is allowed  to be connected to the WiFi.

Ah! Then yeah I think you’re out of luck.

Just tried it using my phone and MacBook – enabling WiFi disables hotspot and kicks off connected computer.
