    As I’m such a Luddite with social media, my wife has tried to set up an Instagram account for my business but we’re not getting very far with it…apologies for the cut and paste below but here goes…BTW, I’m going to be the clueless monkey in the middle if there any questions 😂:

    Instagram account – code not being received, can’t access account – HELP!

    I recently set up an Instagram account for my husband’s new business venture.

    Before setting it up we went through the process of checking Facebook and Instagram had the same profile names, and also an email account and a domain name.  All boxes were ticked so the email account was set up, domain name purchased and then on to Instagram. I’m beginning to think it should have been FB first, but that’s not what happened and like Cher if I could turn back time I would!

    I created the new Insta account, received email confirmation code all good so far, and then it went on to texting a code.

    This has never been received, no matter how many times we request it.  We’ve checked the mobile number that is says its texting is correct, and it is. Whenever I Google the issue all I get is explanations about blocked numbers. We’ve cleared out blocked numbers and still nothing. We’ve tried logging in via other devices and it takes us to the same screen, wanting a 6-digit confirmation code – Argghhhhh!

    I then decided to set up the FB page hoping that by linking the accounts it might solve the issue, but nope, it hasn’t, though FB is working fine.

    Out of desperation I decided to see if I could set it up again, because when I searched on my personal Instagram account for the new one, it says no results. But when I tried to set it up, it said the account name was already taken – which of course it is, and that an account with the same email address exists.

    I have Googled about contacting Instagram – the results all mention about contacting the help centre through the account settings menu – we can’t get as far as seeing the menu options!

    I’ve cleared browser history…I’ve logged in via different browsers and on the App. I’ve tried changing the phone number for the messages, but still no code, so have reverted to the original mobile number. I’ve tried on a Mac, PC, iPad and mobile – but we just can’t get around this 6-digit confirmation code, that isn’t being received!

    Can anyone who is Insta-savvy help please?! TIA

    You need to ask them to disable 2 factor authentication for your account. To get an actual human to do this you can try the get me data route. There will be initial automated emails responses but reply and you should get a human to interact.

    I had to do this a while again and after a few attempts I got it disabled and could log in.
