Aye, the closure/diversion on the red climb is in for the long haul, middle of the year before it’s due to reopen.

Does it miss out the quarry on the way up? anyone know what the conditions are like down there, was thinking of heading down sunday if its not all snowed up

Diversion doesn’t miss the quarry / bombhole.

You still get about 50% of the Minch Moor climb even with the diversion

The diversion turns a sharp right, just before you hit the trees after the long haul on the fire road after the quary. if that helps. One hell of a climb too it is, but you got-to-do-it.

So is it only a diversions on the climb not the descent

Aye, all the descents are unaffected by the diversions. The first section of the diversion is a nice wee climb 😈

You could jump onto the old XC route instead of doing the climb on the Way… Though that does mean missing the quarry climb/descent.

Northwind, where does the old xc route start

Oh sorry, that wasn’t very informative was it!

After the first steppy climb (post 7), turn left instead of right at the fire road, and follow it along/up. After a little while you’ll cross over the Matador downhill trail. Shortly after that, you reach the push-up path, the trail is right beside the pushup and very easy to spot. It’s a nice wee climb/traverse that pops onto the push-up path again a little further up. So eventually you end up on the top fire road- turn right and roll along til you hit the minch road/southern upland way.

It’s not a shortcut or anything like that though, it’s just a different way of getting up the hill
