What on earth has changed re: image posting. It used to be dead easy, now I can’t get it to work…

I learned this from @scotroutes so thanks 😁. I use postimage - select image to upload, from the share option select 'hotlink for forums', copy that and just paste into the text box of your post. No need for anything other than that. Don't need any of the options on here above the text box, just paste that hotlink in and Bob's your Auntie's live-in lover. HTH

Edit: while I'm here...

head of an IT org and I still can’t link pictures properly, sigh

It's ok, I'm a woodworker so should be able to help. 😉

Find the image you wanted, say on Google images, open in new tab(sometimes preview is a thumbnail)

Copy the address up in the address bar It must end in .jpeg or .PNG

Press the img button on the forum reply box

Paste the address you copied into the pop up box)

Hit ok and all the shizzle appears in the reply box

Hit the submit button and you're done

There are a lot of images on Google images and other sites in general these days that don't use a .jpeg address, rather some gobbledegook, which can make posting images tricky.
Often you can delete all the rubbish AFTER the .jpeg part of the address and it'll work. Other times I take a screenshot then upload it to Postimage website and grab the .jpeg address from there.

Edit- or the fazzini method above if the image is on your device.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the best cars and bikes have the best paint jobs

For example, if you could have any car in the world, what would you have? Personally, I’d have a GT40

If you could have that car in any colour paint job, what would it be?

Well Gulf colours, obviously!

I wasn’t sure whether to post the GT40 or the 917. They are both things of utter beauty.

They really are works of art, aren’t they?

Then there’s the Lola T70

There’s no argument to be made about them, beautiful lines, and a simple colour scheme that sets them off perfectly.

*swoon*

How many of these are about liveries, and how many about loving the car/bike…?

As far as the examples above go, it’s both.

McLaren’s classic orange

I had a Can-Am McLaren slot car. Actually I still do, it's in a box somewhere with a heavily modded MRCC hand controller.

The Toon Lister .. top choice

Mine would be Bastos M3 (apart from all the Escort Mk1s and 2s of course, Colibri lighters anyone? And JPS obviously, and Aston at LeMans, and JJ Lehto Black Mclaren, and Gulf, goes without saying. And....there's too many memories Boom, mind gone. 🙂

If you are into the down-under thing, the Possum Bourne Subaru and Roger Freeth Starlet (with a Rover V8 shoehorned under the bonnet) are iconic. Freeth was Bourne's co-driver, but was killed in a crash. Bourne was also killed in a different crash years later.

The best liveries should use both color and pattern in my opinion. Some, like that Jagermeister one, is just the right colour and some text. Effective and memorable, but not the best like Martini, Gulf and Alitalia.

And the iconic ones are those that get redeveloped over years on different cars/bikes/machines and different shapes.

Previously mentioned, deserves a photo

But I'd say it was the car that makes it memorable, rather than the livery.
