Will the top of the cabinet come off? That would give you more tilt

Fanciful? Fanciful??? Hmph. By all means go with less fanciful suggestion, like harpooning it 😀

(TBF though that would be both more likely to work and more fun)

In all seriousness though, if you haven’t seen these before go and get some (ideally with a longish hose), they’re great and come in useful way more often than I expected!

You could climb in then with a series of little jumps shuffle it forward.

Ideally you would skoot across the floor before canoing down a set of steps but that might be a tadmore work than you fancy if masonry os involved.

I like the idea but more likely it would fall forwards with you inside, wedging itself onto your back and forcing you to scuttle around like a hermit crab until the fire brigade comes to set you free.

I had a similar setup in my old flat. I got round the problem by selling the flat before the fridge/freezer carked it.

That said – we let the flat out for about ten years and in that time I replaced the integrated washer/drier thing three times, so I got a lot of practice sliding washing machines in and out. The thin bit of ply thing really works, and in the end I just kept a sheet of it in the garage for specifically that job.

It also looks like the unit in your brother’s place is sitting on a shelf of some kind, either to raise it up a bit or (potentially) so it can be slid in and out. Have a bit of a look at the arrangement at the bottom.

If you’re still having trouble getting purchase on the sides, you could try a pair of suction handles on the flat bits

This, cheap dent puller/glass lifter/etc suction cup thing from Amazon. A bit like a sea sucker with a handle. I use one to lift floor tiles in server rooms, way better than a standard tile lifter.

Take the shelves out, unscrew the door, stick it to the inside and pull it out.

Has anyone suggested drilling a hole through the wall behind it and pushing it out with a stick?

Can you just leave it in place and buy a smaller fridge to go inside the current one?

He followed someone’s advice on here. He could be in serious trouble.

I was stood down, a mate of his went over today and they were going to definitely get it out and they still haven’t and now he’s in a huff. Stakes are getting higher, I really hope i can just walk in and whisk it out in 20 seconds.

He has genuinely bought a mini fridge and put it inside the other one.

    Could be there a while.

My grandparents bought a house in the late 80s, renovated the kitchen themselves but never quite finished it. When they died in Covid times the cutlery drawer was still on a stool.

If you take the hinges off, it looks like you could just pull it forwards

    Ditto.

It just looks like its a space with the fridge pushed into it, not really built in or such with the fridge/freezer door attached to the ahem chip board door. The door off inc the hinges should mean it should just slide out.

The bit at the base just looks like an attempt to make the space a bit smaller, like it was maybe constructed for a slightly taller f/f, so I wouldnt really worry about that.

Show it what you did to the last inanimate object that pissed you off….

That should convince it to shift.

Or you could look at the sticker with the model details on and get the instruction manual online which will include the installation guide and perform the reverse actions.

It’ll be screwed in to the cab at the top and the bottom to stop it being pulled forwards each time someone opens it. Screws will be accessible but might be behind covers/caps or something, you’ve just got to hunt them down. Take cabinet doors/hinges off too.

Once you’ve found and removed the screws it should easily pull out but if you need more to grab onto, put the fridge doors or brackets back on.

And bear in mind it might still be plugged in somewhere so disconnect that before or while you pull it out

Get a hacksaw blade and carefully cut a slit across the roof of the fridge from the inside. Then fold/pull the top and then sides inward to create a gap and you should be able to pull it easily after that. Next time use grease or coppaslip to prevent galvanic corrosion.

Yeah, and then maybe just get a tattoo across your face saying ‘I am a Failure!’

Sounds like they need the chill out.

I vote for Northwind to GET FREXIT DONE!

By any means necessary, including filling it with tannerite then shooting it.
