I live in Glasgow, and I don't have much need of my teeth, I'll give it a go.

Hehe, awesome, now I've worked myself up to it I'll do it. I've a day off tomorrow, maybe then. I've added an inch to my forks just to make sure 🙂

mansonsoul – I don't need a biking god to make me look a fool and then not want to do it :o) At least let me break something alone first!

don't know if you've already said this, but why do you need to be able to get down it? is it randomly in the middle of a route you do, or do you just see it and have a nagging need to conquer it?

Nagging need, it would be a nice start to my rides.

Don't know how to ride it (but don't think you would get that caught up on it) but those see-saw things with a horses head are awesome! They have all gone around here, I suspect I would spend more time on that than I would riding the drop next to it 🙂

Pop into a manual and push out & down into the drop.

There is a wall and drop like that in a industrial yard near where i live – good fun but my mate split his helmet the first time he attempted it 😆 literally!

    Is that landing completely flat?

I don't see it ending well if you hop early – then again, MTFU.

    coffeeking

It just appears as though it's like you're going to hit it perpendicular to the stone when you approach the top, nags at my sensible hemisphere.

supinerider – yup, flat as a pancake, if you take the smooth route with the coping stone filled in you land IN the swings, go to the right and you land flat on the concrete. My new rear trials rim lands tomorrow, I'll lace it up and do it on that first, at least I know I can manage that, it might help the confidence!

you can land on that soft playmat stuff whats the problem?, apart from a swing and a horse thing being inconveniently in the way

Down the hill get air of the wall top. Step over bike and hang off the left for rest of the flight to the swing. Catch the nose of the saddle on the cross beam of the swing. Do a quick 360 loop but release the bike just before it completes its loop and land in the swing. Leaving bike to hang on the cross beam next to you.

speed's yer key i recon, ive droped off bigger than that to flat with no problems and im Old! Lol

Yeah, if it wasnt for the stone at the top I'd not consider it as I've ridden worse on the trail, but that damn stone gives me the heebie jeebies! I just need to MTFU!

It would freak me out. I guess manualing, sucking up the impact with your legs then extending again to absorb the landing is needed.*

*I have no idea how this would be done.

From the description and diagram, this would be exactly the kind of thing I'd love to be able to do but would be too frightened to attempt for fear of failure.

If the landing is concrete then the price for failure is quite a lot of pain. That alone would put me off.

I'd be interested in seeing the video though!

what town is it in Coffeeking?

couldn't you go down at an angle, so you go off the filled in bit, but are not going into the swings?

    jam-bo

Now I've seen it, I'd be asking why rather than how.

    theflatboy

i'd go for the smooth stone approach route and ride under the righthand swing.

    theflatboy

also, as questioned – where exactly is it? if you know other stwers are on the way to conquer it before you it might spur you on!

    Coyote

I think sweepy has the solution. Hit it at an angle and smooth out the dip.

There's a setup like that near me. I'll wait till you've done it before I try. 8)

4ft? That must be an XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL Giant NRS you have there then.

    MTFU.

Jesus…I've never seen such mincing over such a small drop! Here's how to do it; big ring, nail it down the slope as fast as you possibly can…a fraction before the front wheel hits the stone, grab a MASSIVE handful of front brake. Simples.

    No need to thank me,
    Rusty

Gotta say thats not what I was expecting from the description.
There are two routes one has a lip caused by the stone the other doesn't as it is filled with mud. If you go at from where you are in the first picture and aim between the two kiddie things you go off with no lip.

Either way just man up and ride off it with your weight off the back end and you'll drop like a stone off the smooth bit and if you go off the lip you'll get a little bit of air.

I guess the reason your butt is switching is because it's concrete and there maybe kids about that will laugh at if you bin it. Plus you seem to be way over thinking it, and you know probably bin it by going arse of tit off the. Just relax and ride it.

I thought the scots where a tough fearless breed of human turns out this thread is destroying that stereotype.

I would have expected a scot to ride off that in a skirt on rigid retro bike, one handed holding a can of iron bru in the other. O and no helmet.

And after this we've just revoked his visa and sent him back down south, the big shandy drinking fairy

Saddle of my bike stands at just under 4ft according to my tape measure? Maybe I need a new tape!

    Rusty – cheers! 🙂

Can I blame you if it all goes wrong? 🙂

I thought the scots where a tough fearless breed of human turns out this thread is destroying that stereotype.

As BoardinBob pointed out (thanks bob, and I thought I'd been adopted by now!), I am English – I'm still trying to keep up 🙂

Right, thats it Bob, get your arse up here next time you're up at Mugdock, lets see you do it without a little feedback! 🙂

Seriously, the diagonal route off the smooth section is probably the way I'm going to attack it (though it does require skirting round two piles of dog eggs and a tree). I'm happy attacking the second one down the bottom (visible in the 1st shot) as despite being higher it has a nice lip and neat line up. I always cock up things with poor lead-ins.

I guess the reason your butt is switching is because it's concrete and there maybe kids about that will laugh at if you bin it. Plus you seem to be way over thinking it, and you know probably bin it by going arse of **** off the. Just relax and ride it.

Very few kids actually use it, I just have had enough time out of riding this year (back injury) and don't want to snap limbs and be out even longer just when I'm getting back into it.

For those interested, it's the kids play zone (duh!) in the main street of Torrance. Glasgowdan and a few others will know it well.

Incidentally, those nice soft mat things are sodding slippery – riding over the edge of them if you're not careful your front end washes out (in the wet!).

jedi – fair point. I think I'm recoiling from normally taking the "just do it" route and it having bitten me a few times lol.

I'm not normally too scared of slow flat-landing drop offs:
