Sooooo, how many new bikes have you bought this year? Reckon I've been pretty restrained really with 7 builds 😉 . Started the year with the little orange Tazer then added an S&M Sabbath bmx, S&M dirtbike bmx resto project, Kona Cowan singlespeed, Santa Cruz Bullit, little white Tazer, DK Havok bmx and S&M NG dirtbike bmx. Only the white Tazer remains (the little red 'bred frame is a permanent fixture of course) so bring on 2010 😀

Only one for me the 456 I got about a month ago. Before that it was a Kona Cinder Cone. Saving for the wedding so dont have much spare for bikes!

EDIT thats forgetting my singlespeed commuter that I built up and have now stripped back down again!

Only one new roadie commuter this year - plus a little Ridgeback for my lad.

I'd like to have high hopes for next year but job/finances are in the balance

Ah, think I'm gonna sell the whole Dialled PA and the Intense 5.5 frame.
Get a nice new FS frame and leave it at that.
Have a nice long trip to canada planned. Gonna need the money (and bike!).

Sold my 2007 Orange 5.

Bought a cheap n cheerful early 90's Raleigh steel framed road bike, a 2009 Orange 5 Pro and just about to take delivery of a Cove Handjob.

Not bad considering i spent the first 6 months of this year unemployed!

Took apart a Cannondale R3000 and built a Cervelo Soloist. 2008 was an expensive year and the Mrs wasn't forgetting it (R3SL :-))

Seven - Funny year for bikes. I will be getting non for the next couple.

New "bike bike" in Feb - Titus El Guapo - lovely.....

[img] [/img]

New hardtail - Boardman that became a Cove handjob (only counting as 1)

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Spotted this on here the day we found out we got our bonus for the year and always want to try a SS (tried it, didn't like it, too lazy). But loved the look of it.

[img] [/img]

A cheap Ebay BMX for local pump track (sorry no picture). Quickly discovered my BMX days are long gone, so sold it and the singlespeed (also not for me) and got a DMR sidekick, so I'm down with the kids (not)

[img] [/img]

So all was good, Titus, Cove and DMR, then some ****ers stole my Cove and wifes fsr XC, so we got these as replacements

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

So technical 6 for me and 1 for her. To be fair it was a strange year, no new bikes last year and normally only 1 a year (HT 1 year and FS the next)

Just bought one, but it was my first 'crosser and also my first singlespeed. Regret selling the MTB (even though it was to my nephew who's been happily enjoying it since) as I've yet to replace it.

Can't quite believe this thread is an hour old and no sign of Ton yet, perhaps he's trying to remember them all 😉

Oh and its 3 for me April saw my first 29er which was a Viper 29er then in summer i got an old Peugeot pub bike off of a mate and finally I've just finished building the Singular Swift.

Hoping for 3 more for next year 😛

Yeah, Ton'l still be counting 😉 .

I've got nothing planned for next year . . . yet (especially with two of my lads planning uni for September) but it was a quick browse of my er, timeline that prompted the thread as I seem to have a bit of a thing for Jan/Feb/March purchases . . . we'll see 😕

Not so much 'collecting' rusty, more 'short-term testing' 😉 - the NG dirtbike is on ebay at the mo' but I'm sure there'll be another along in the new year. Wish I'd never sold the dirtbike resto project though - I spent a lot of time and effort on that one. If you're looking to sell the Holmes I'm sure there are plenty of folks over on radbmx.co.uk who'd be more than happy to take it off your hands.

Jesus Ton!!!

recently bought a Mountain Cycle Rumble ltd edition frame, have an old Kona frame so....nothing complete yet, but should be two more bikes soon....ish.

Will only be two though as my Rocky Mountain has 2 cracks and will be replaced with the rumble.

Would like a big bouncer for the alps but we'll see about that.

Bought 1 complete... so restrained! 😆

Hopefully a roadie next year at some point to replace the "heavy & clunky" thing I commute on now - I'm on it close to 2 hours a day, 4-5 days a week, might as well be something nice to spend that time on.

Maybe a BMX/DJ/faff about in the gutter/play bike too so I can muck around with the nephews and learn to manual, wheelie, bunny-hop, etc properly. Double up as an errands bike too (I don't go to the pub, the local ones are crap! 🙁 )

But the other was a 19 and a bit pound Yeti ASR-Carbon 😀 Bought it in March but still paying off the overdraft...

Early in year I built up a s/h Trance that I bought just before Xmas '08, still loving it.

Bought and built a Big Hit in spring and sold it in autumn, too small and heavy for me.

Just bought a Charge Blender s/h.

Not so much gone through bikes as frames with a few upgrades in the parts front.

I've gone through more forks than anything else... 2 sets of Revs, Pikes, Bombers, 66's, Fox 32's, Fox 36's. Now settled with Lyriks and Magura Laurins although would like some Wotans after riding the Laurins.

As for bikes sold the Bullit, the NRS and the Malt....Bought a Heckler, an 853 Dialled PA and an Inbred 🙂

Wondering how long they will stay with me, I'm happy......for now 😈

Just the one for me:
A s/h Enigma frame in Columbus steel that was too small for my mate.. some bargain basement carbon cranks, reba teams and hard bits from on-one.. and a drivetrain/wheel/brake setup from various retailers and my spares bin where not one single component matches any other. Even the brake callipers don't match the levers!
So that's a 24 1/2 lb steel hardtail, all for £970, and I love it to bits!
I did the south downs way on it in one day at the end of summer and it was faultless. I missed my inbred when I sold it 3 years ago, but I don't miss it any more. This pistol whips the shit out of it. Rides better, descends better, singletracks better, climbs like my old Klein, if not better..
In fact, I've gotta dig out a picture of it.. Here:
[IMG] [/IMG]

Oh, and my other bikes both got new forks and drivetrains, but that's not news.

Where do people get the money to swap bikes so often? You must lose money on each one!?

I'm only at 2, Top Fuel 9.9 and Specialized Allez commuter, got a new frame on order which should be here before the end of the year though, so a winter bike to add to that!

Where do people get the money to swap bikes so often? You must lose money on each one!?

Not bikes, usually just frames njee20, and sure I lose a little on each one but hey, I reckon it'd cost close to that to hire one for a couple of weeks - I just look on it as money well-spent on entertainment 😀 (I don't 'do' shoes or handbags so why not?)

mamadirt, got pics of the retro BMX?

Which one tinsy? The mid 90s S&M was my last restoration (stripped and resprayed the frame and built it up with mostly NOS stuff off ebay and radbmx.co.uk

The more recent 2002 NG dirtbike I bought as an NOS frame off ebay and built it up pretty cheaply with the plan to buy period correct stuff when funds allowed, but it's on ebay now as I know it's just gonna cost me megabucks in the long run to get it as I'd like it.

Spent silly money on a Hutch resto too a few years ago (sheesh that bike was fast) . . .

Tinsy, have a look on radbmx.co.uk if you fancy rebuilding an MX2.
