joshvegasFree Member3 x work boots, safety boots and safety wellies
Do you not get a pair of safety thigh waders aswell?
nickcFull Memberwellies, walking boots, couple of pairs of casual trainers, 3 pairs of casual ‘not trainers’. couple of pairs of DM, 3 spds (winter pair, autumn-winter boots, and spring-summer disco slippers) what’s that? 12 pairs, 3 of which are pretty specific.
I’ve no idea if that’s good bad or something in between. I’ve not really thought “I need a pair of ‘x’ shoes” so I guess about normal for most folks?
stumpy01Full MemberAbout 19 pairs I reckon. Most of them are pretty old. I throw them away less frequently than I buy them. And I don’t buy them very often.
A lot of the newer ones are presents that I have asked for, at Christmas or birthday.
Newest pair is about 3 weeks old (Adidas Terrex Hiking Shoes – recent birthday present)
Oldest pair is probably some 18 year old Hi-Tec hiking boots.
1andytherocketeerFull MemberBlimy – Imelda Marcos would have been proud of some of the above posters.

1pr of the same but older that I use daily
1pr hiking boots

must have a pair of black shoes somewhere from before lockdown, but not sure where
2tomhowardFull MemberHow do people with so few pairs, manage to have so few?
theres very few everyday situations a black pair of 5.10s aren’t usuable.

theres very few everyday situations a black pair of 5.10s aren’t usuable.agree with this 100%
just looking at what i own. my summer walking shoes are Peter Storm leather things, which are also very comfy on the bike, so the 5 tens could go. they also clean up very nice, so the clarks day shoes could go. and i dont really use spd’s, so they could go.
so my list could easily become 4 pairs.
MoreCashThanDashFull MemberFive Tens X 3 – my everyday shoes

n0b0dy0ftheg0atFree MemberCurrently switching between more clip-in shoes (4) than trainers (2) and slippers (2). Some other pairs like proper shoes and boots, but they have been gethering dust for many months!
clubbyFull MemberBetter up mine to 26. Forgot about a pair of hiking boots and the Sketchers I wear around the house.
theres very few everyday situations a black pair of 5.10s aren’t usuable.
For a lot of peoples jobs, that still not true. A couple of my contracts specify “smart business wear”. Anyway, who wants to wear boring black trainers the whole time? I’d also like to see the gym managers face if I turned up to play squash in a pair of those. Banned for life.
I think we probably need a “How many rucksacks do you own?” thread too, possibly to include bumbags/hip-packs in the count for completeness.
No, just no.
wboFree MemberI’d have to think, but it will be a lot… climbing does that…. but Tom Howard – pre Adidas 5.10”s – really – from 2011 latest?

Smart shoes
casual trainers
running shoes
walking boots
flip flops
crocs (garden and driving to-from bike rides only)

that doesnt seem too bad. problem is probably another 5+ pairs of old worn out versions of the above, kept for some reason as a “just in case”
ayjaydoubleyouFull MemberFor the “5:10 for everything crowd”, do you wear new ones as casual wear then demote them to biking? or have lots on rotation? or just wear one pair for everything until they are dead?
montylikesbeerFull Memberahem, here we go

- 3 x MTB flat pedal shoes (Waterproof Five Tens, canvass Five Tens, and a pair of Ride Concept for pumptrack)

Wellies and outdoor/MTB shoes live in the garage (apart from the commuting riding shoes).
All the smart ones are under the bed and rarely get used these days, but have kept them from before WFH when work was business dress with suits and ties.
The Greggs’ crocs live by the back door.
The sliders live in the boot of the car for getting changed after wet ride.
Running shoes live in the shoe cupboard.
The everyday trainers live on the floor wherever annoys my wife the most…
cookeaaFull MemberSo Currently I have:

Hmmm, I feel like a bit of a tart now, not sure I can Criticise my Missus really, the only real difference is my shoes are a bit more diverse in purpose and stored in a slightly more organised way (IMO).
lungeFull MemberIn terms of storage, bike shoes and running race shoes live in the garage with the football boots, cricket boots and hiking shoes. Dedicated shelving keeps them neat.
All the rest live in a rack at the bottom of my wardrobe.
General rule of shoes coming off as you enter the house and into slippers. This was introduced after an incident involving chain oil and a brand new carpet (WD40 is the answer to your next question).DrJFull MemberNon-work, non-sports shoes – 3
Flip flops x2
Faux Crocs x1
Walking/hiking shoes x5
Wellies x1

somafunkFull MemberOne pair of trainers, one pair of bothy slippers for the house, I’m not very mobile these days but even prior to the onset of spms I always owned more pairs of sidi’s than anything else, never owned a pair of shoes/boots etc apart from rigger boots for work. Think my max trainer count was 3 pairs at one point and 4 pairs of sidi’s.
andybradFull MemberThis isnt a shoe fetish thing i promise…..
But between us we have about 35 pairs of shoes. These live in 2 shoe racks and then strewn across the floor. The racks are fine but shes wanting to replace these 2 racks (that hold 10 pairs each) with 1 that holds 6. So where the hell do the rest go?
id love to see your shoe storage pics at this moment in time so i can find a space for them
wartonFree MemberOoh this could be a lot…
11 x Running trainers
2 x Bike Shoes
2 x ‘Smart’ Shoes
1 x Hiking Boots
1 x Golf Shoes
1 x Football Trainers
1 x New Balance Trainers
6 x Adidas Trainers
1 x Saucony Trainers
2 x North Face slippers
1 x Rab Slippers
so 29….
neilnevillFree MemberFar far far too many, probably getting on for 25 pairs. Most of these are boxed and not in use, bargains bought when seen in silly sales like £300 Loake boots for £60 (4 pairs bought). Actually in use about 3 pairs regularly and then another pair or three used occasionally over the year. If I can begin to resist the urge to buy further bargains I don’t need shoes for a decade. That’s hard though!

Loads. You can never have too many pairs of trainers
+1
Before I consider trainers…
– 4 pairs of cycling 5.10’s.
– 1 pair of 5.10 Guide Tennies. Had to dispose of 2 pairs recently… 🙁
– 1 pair of Gore-Tex lined Karrimor 3 season walking boots 1 – at least 22 years old.
2 pairs brown suede desert boots.
1 pair of brown leather chukka boots.
4 pairs of black lace up formal business shoes.
2 pairs of Nike cross-training shoes, that I use for the gym.
I will have to do an inventory of my trainers*.
*Mrs JAMJ1974 – says too many…
