Well, the women are obviously quite happy to exploit their assets for their ‘job’.

So, really, who is exploiting whom?

I think the thing that annoys the most is adverts that use girls. ‘glamour’ is just that, it’s tits and fannys, but adverts with girls is just a bit scummy

Having said that, it does women no favours and I think there are still men out there how expect girls to behave a certain way, or dress a certain way because of the pictures they see.

Not shocked or disgusted by it, just slightly bored and disappointed really

There is a lot of pictures up & I think it makes a difference. Its in poor taste at the very least. If I was the Orange honcho I would have got them taken down for the photoshoot

The main difference there (possibly?) is that He/She runs a successful Bike factory, and you (possibly?) don’t.

So only one of you really knows (or cares) if those pictures will make a measurable difference to the business.

    So……..back on point.

Can anyone HONESTLY say they wouldn’t buy an Orange bike/frameset because they saw some calendars they didn’t like in a workshop manned by men they don’t know?

Anyone who claims to fit into that category is talking pish to try and prove a point.

I doubt it will make any measurable difference, but still, it looks a bit ‘sad, grubby and 80s’ – not the image any company is looking to portray I’d imagine.

Mmmm, I’d imagine they saw the film before it was released.

Are we allowed put the cyclepassion calendar up in a workshop then? or THE victoria pendleton poster??

Is it ok to have a sexy lady in some clothes calendar or is that 80’s too?

If I worked with any of you I’d be far more offended by the amount of time you manage to spend on here arguing over stuff like this, rather than doing your day job….. which you’re obviously getting well paid to do to be considering buying overly priced Orange bikes.

And as for the Rosa Parks comment…..oh deary me….

Or maybe it portrays them as a company of real, actual Northern men making stuff by hand in a factory in England where they have calendars of girls with their cans out, rather than some clinical, faceless far Eastern conglomerate staffed by 12 year olds? Just a thought……..

    A BRITISH CYCLIST!!!!!

    You horrible patriotic jingoistic bastard!

Seriously though, there are obviously so many emasculated office workers in here it makes me want to cry.
Well, it would do if I spent my entire day pushing a pencil around a desk and having to be all “modern” and have “feelings” so I don’t upset the skirt wearers.

Ps. tpbiker: It’s my day off. 😉

I’m really, really hoping that some of the more PC responses in here are more than a little in jest.

I don’t see anyone getting upset over it, it’s just a bit ’14 year old boy’ isn’t it, but judging by some of the responses that fits pretty well. I’m northern and don’t work in an office btw.

This. Just seems a bit of an odd way to choose to portray your company. Then again, if it works for their target market then fair enough.

It’s a total straw man argument for people to suggest anyone is getting all ‘PC gone mad’ and het up over this. The only ones getting het up seem to be those in favour of porn in the workplace.

For me it’s mostly a mixture of bemusement and being a bit embarrassed for you/them. 🙂

    Fair comment.

But doing exactly the same in reverse does weaken your point slightly.

I’m a woman. I own an Orange. I’m not offended by posters or calendars with naked women in them.

But I’m with mikeconnor on this one. Folks need to understand why some people are offended by grot on the walls.

A lot of people in this thread are missing the point, I think.

I don’t think anyone on either side of the fence is getting “het up” about it personally, and as you rightly pointed out, saying they are is a straw man argument (probably from both sides)

Many moons ago I worked with a guy whos wife was in charge of a large group of men, when she did her first arrival look around there was allsorts of wallpaper some nice and some very nasty. She didnt say anything or show any disgust but a week later she started putting up her own posters some nice and some not so very quickly all the nasty stuff was removed and her point was made. I think it helped when they realised that she had friends living in Holland and as this was pre internet days they wernt going to win and as she was the boss they were never going to.

I guess that’s why she got promoted to where she was and got on even further and they guys respected her to.

Never mind that! There was a Nirvana poster! Orange are glamourising gun ownership and suicide! This is disgraceful.

I shall immediately pen a furious missive to the Guardian to complain. And the Daily Express to ask what Diana would have done about it. Etc.

The Daily Express is too busy making up weather predictions to worry about what Diana might have thought about it.

This is a good point. Either that or telling us that red wine will kill us. Or that it will cure cancer.
