2001-2003 1993 Metro Rio (rusted and died)
2003-2005 1989 Golf mk 2 (had dents when I got it, best £125 I ever spent, scrapped as my mate abandoned a Rover that I put on the road which was in better condition)
2005-2008 1993 Rover 214Si (Broke the gearbox doing a massively unsympathetic bump start after the coil got broken cos a bus had hit it and I never noticed til a very wet very long journey.)
2008-2013 2001 Mondeo ST200. Sold in working order, had stopped being able to get parts easily for it when Arnold Clarke took on the Ford parts in Scotland.
2013 on – brand new Skoda Octavia (1.2TSI woo!).epicsteveFree MemberEpicsteve, you’re one of these elusive CX-7 owners. I’ve only ever seen 2 or 3 of these cars.
I think the first one I saw was the one I bought. It’s a great car but the 20mpg or so fuel consumption would put a lot of people off.
meddersFree MemberTriumph Herald (the chicks digged the retro style at university)
Austin Metro (stereo got stolen which wiped its value down to £0)
Fiat Punto
Fiat Punto GT (turbo-lag, torque steering monster)
Honda Prelude
Golf GTI
Honda S2000 (ate rear tyres)
Saab 9-3 Aero
Golf GTI
BMW 320D M Sport estate (kids arrived)
Honda CRV (currently on our fifth)*
Honda Jazz (had 3)*
Honda Civic Sport (current – and best car I have ever driven)**wife works for Honda – we get 2 new ones every 10 months or 10k
Had a few motorbikes too:
Honda CBF125, Hornet, CBR600Not as many as I had thought. Lost the car love a while ago but now beginning to want something properly quick. Albeit sort of stuck with Honda – so maybe a Civic Type R.
DaveyBoyWonderFree MemberYou can plainly see the point in simonjj’s life at which kids came along and his car choices went downhill with it 😀
epicsteveFree MemberYou can plainly see the point in simonjj’s life at which kids came along and his car choices went downhill with it
He’ll be one of they many Golf GTD owners that drive like an idiot to try and prove to themselves that buying a diesel doesn’t make them old…
cardoFull MemberAustin Metro
Austin Metro
Austin Maxi (cost me £50 and used to transport mates to clubs)
VW Beetle (should never of sold it)
VW Type 25 Camper
VW Golf MK.2 16V (miss this one)
VW Scirocco GTi MK.2
VW Golf Tdi Mk.4
Ford Escort (the worst one even compared to the Metros)
VW Passat
Citroen C5
Ford Focus (the most reliable)
VW Touran
Audi A4I thought it would be more than this, but I do tend to hang on to my motors if I like them… the Escort lasted 4 months it was atrocious.
epicsteveFree Membercardo – I’m really struggling to understand why, having owned one Metro, you got another one.
Not quite the worst car I’ve driven (Allegro was the winner there, even over old style Lada’s and the like) but still a contender.
cardoFull Member@epicsteve… the first one dissolved one Winter, I was 17/18 and insurance was sky high.. The 2nd Metro was an MG Metro (woo hoo) and was mint and didn’t rust amazingly!!
simonjjFree MemberDon’t quite know the best response for you “epicsteve” but seeing as you obviously don’t know me maybe you’d be better off keeping you sweeping statements to yourself.
stevemuzzyFree Memberdriving since 1995. many company cars and I like the faster ones.. stages where I had a company car but we also owned one at home which was “fun”
Ford Orion 1.6 Ghia Diesel – first car, rust bucket, slow but full of toys!

Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia in Brown!- basically an xr3i with a boot, loved it!
Ford Orion 1.6 Automatic– horrific pile of poop I had to get when the engine in the Orion went pop, ditched soon after..
Mk3 RS 1600i Escort. What a car, stolen and trashed 🙁 worth £££ if I had it now
Mini 1.3 British Open Classic -what a car! (mate still has it in his garage)
Ford Ka Collection (this is where it all went wrong) first new car, bought to drive nearly 100 miles a day
Some random 206 – first company car, elephant bum dashboard is all I can remember
Polo 1.9 GTD – first nice company car
MG ZR – modified beyond belief, lowered, full stainless engine bay etc.
Renaultsport Clio 172 Phase 2 best car I owned bar the RS
Toyota Avensis ts- next company car, big, comfy, not at all sporty..

It was supposed to be a joke, but if you resemble the remark…
I drive my wife’s SLK like an idiot at times to try and prove buying her the diesel was a better option than the 300 petrol. It can be fun as I think everyone expects the diesel to be slow!
epicsteveFree MemberYou can plainly see the point in simonjj’s life at which kids came along and his car choices went downhill with it
And also the occasional one where you can tell when the kids were grown up.
We had years of people carriers and estates but are thankfully well past that now!
