Is there a solo tent again?

No solo tent. All the camping is within 50m of the start/finish straight.

Great to see the '2nd' HTN is going ahead and looking forward to a preview ride. However, the timing of your next preview ride is not so great as the once dormant England team awaken from their slumber to take on ???????????? at 15:00 this Sunday ! (Hope its not Germany, extra time, then penalties, then……..).

Any chance of an evening ride during the week ? Please.

FFS – we didn't know that England were gonna get through the groups never mind that they'd be playing their next game at 15:00 on Sunday. Shit man.

You takes your choice. HtN preview is happening. If you want to ride it, miss the game.

    MTB vs football. Pah.

    I did say please !

As for those of you who doubted England shame on you. You obviously have not learnt the joy of hope, expectation, followed by the crushing blow of reality. Then up pops the fairy godmother – well Defoe will do.

World Cup once every 4 years – sorry as good (and wet) as HTN 1 was I'll have to miss this preview ride and hope for another.

Sad to see talk that Harry might be organising his last HTN. I thought HTN 1 was well organised despite the atrocious conditions. Does this mean the HTN 1 'T' shirt I bought in 2008 will be a collectors item? Odd there was no date on it – wonder if there will be a few (boxes of) for sale at HTN 2 ?

The only time i've got in my rather crowded life at the moment is Sunday afternoon whilst the kids are asleep.

England will get bummed by the Germans anyway.

'bummed' is that a northern word for stuffed at the penalty shoot out ?
But there again it could be Ghana – are they any good at penalties ?

Sod it. I'm still doing a lap but I'll put a radio in my CamelBak. It's ages since I've been out so I'm not wasting the opportunity. I shall listen to England taking it up the bum as I'm taking it down the berm.

Opening the bike shed will be like opening and Egyptian tomb, but with more half empty GT85 tins in it.

It was last time as well, wasn't it?

Yep. And the only person to use it was Mike, who kept his extensive wardrobe and beauty products in it.

If you could provide me with my own personal race prep area again, that would be appreciated 🙂

no I meant all the camping being within 50m of the start / finish straight.

Looking forward to the new shower block, a cold shower on friday night was not enough fun to warrant trying it again….

    A Ragley TD1:SS I believe.

I expect a podium finish from you. As John Wayne said* "There's no point in having a ten gallon hat if you've only got a two pint head".

*He didn't. I made it up.

Today we have mostly been ordering several kilometres of tape, 300 rider numbers and pins and 200 laminating pouches for signs.

This event lark isn't not all champagne and page 3 girls.

Still need a few more entries to pay for all this crap.

Well im in + two more in a trio

By popular demand… a mid week preview ride

Wednesday 30th June, 6:00 pm, Waterdale entrance at the bottom of Clifton Road / Buckley Lane.

The nearest post code is M25 3HR. Follow Clifton Road about another ¾ of a mile all the way down to the bottom and meet at the gate on the right hand side next to the big wall and Recycling Facility (it was “The Tip” when I were a lad). Not the Waterdale gate 200m before this.

The preview ride was ace! Although I did end up hanging by my SPDs head first down a ravine and the only way out was for somebody to unclip me resulting in a comedy fall and back flip. 😀

    Pictures?

Would have loved to have joined you, but I had to escort a lovely group of ladies around the bridleways of Calderdale.
I stayed at the back to make sure everyone was getting around safely, not because I'm old and slow with Barnesist tendencies, oh no.

Course looking good? – was wonderful when we rode it last Sunday, so nice to have a blast in the dry.

    It was proper fast.

The berms and jumps are bedding in nicely, but I did attack the jump before the bridge with a little too much gusto. Falling off later on was inevitable.

Just back from a week away without the net and missed this post.

Thanks for the bump. Great news see you at the event

And I'm hoping to get over on Wednesday night as well.

    Footpath closures paid for.

£225 gets you 6 and a half miles of Bury.

£1200 gets you 400m of Bolton. We are not using 400m of Bolton. We are running parallel to it about 6ft to one side for free.

    Bury 🙂

    Bolton 🙁

Confirming the DJ for the beer tent this evening.

Still places left. Don't be shy. http://www.hitthenorth.net

My friends have stupidly arranged to get married that day, and I am required to attend! Otherwise I would have been riding.
My mate Lil' T is riding and reckons he's going to win.
    Hope its a sell out!

Day 245,432 in the Hit the North House.

    Insurance certificate arrived.
    British Cycling Race Commisaires booked.
Fantastic Lisa form British Cycling lined up to help out with sign in again (Thanks).

Have noticed that the number of cyclo cross riders has dropped from the winter events. Is 8 hours too tough? I would have thought that this would have been ideal training for the 3 Peaks. We don’t have the same gradient but time wise this is twice as long. Oh well…

Still places left. Maybe after the Singletrack Weekender things will pick up a bit more.

It's because they're scared of being beaten by an MTBer.

    6 emergency medical technicians
    1 ambulance
    1 4×4

All booked at massive but necessary expense.

Please do not feel obliged to call on their services.

These guys are good BTW, so if anybody needs event first aid cover drop them a line.
