Can you hire a people carrier with a roof rack? Our s-max needs work and we were meant to be going to Scotland in a fortnight. I’m taking my bouncy bike and a hardtail hence the 6.

Sounds like you need to hire a crew cab van

I’m sure you can hire such a vehicle, how affordable it will be is a separate question.

Here’s Hope your SMax gets fixed in time…

    Zafira will take 5 people.
2 bikes stripped down in the back with luggage and 3 bikes on the roof rack.

    Ask me how i know…

You can hire roof racks and bike carriers from trailer rental places.

Or hire a car with towbar and hire a box trailer for the bikes.

Personally, I’d rent a crew cab van or a pickup rather than faff with roof rack.

I would be quite surprised if you can hire a car with a roofrack . They’re a bit of a liability.

yeah you won’t get a normal car rental with a towbar either.

you can get “band vans” which are crewcab vans finished nicely inside, aimed at touring bands. should suit bikes

Yep I’d be going for a crew cab van. Just don’t forget the speed limit on a-roads is lower for vans.

Gone for an xc60.  I’ll bung a carrier on the back for the big bikes and wang the 20 and isla in the boot.
