He said ‘say something controversial so it will get shared round social media like wildfire’

Thought you were immune to advertising/marketing, TJ? 😉
Hard to credit that anyone with more than half a brain would be dumb enough to say that out loud, even if they were insensitive enough to think it. Let alone be happy to have it quoted.
Thick as a whale omelette, deserve to go bust pdq.
Nothing showing when you google ‘cafe vine, great junction street’.
The window appears to say “The Vine…” and there is a place called the Vine Bar on that street, so maybe it’s a typo or they’ve just taken that place over and Google Maps hasn’t been updated yet. 🤷♂️
Also nice to see a bit of anti-english sentiment in the twitter comments.
The place is “real” enough, but it looks like a working mens’ club not a hipster hangout
also the pic looks totally photoshopped, no? Especially the “Leith” lettering & the window graphic.
Interesting point though re. being manipulated on social media into spreading bullshit faux-outrage (or whatever “they” want you to think/say) 🤔(especially just wanging stuff on without pausing to think/fact-check first ) Guess it can fool anyone no matter how immune they think they are to it.
I guess tell people what they want to hear and make it just believable enough & they’ll lap it up…

Google ‘white moose cafe outrage marketing’. Interesting stuff.
Rent a flat above a shop Cut your hair and get a job Smoke some fags and play some pool Pretend you never went to school But still you’ll never get it right ‘Cause when you’re laid in bed at night Watching roaches climb the wall If you called your dad he could stop it all, yeah
There’s a bike shop in Edinburgh which is very cool inside and will serve you a very nice coffee, but when my dad called to ask them if they could order him in some parts (Campag at least), their response was ‘yeah… we’re not really that kind of bike shop’.
His first response was to accuse me (working in a different bike shop at the time) and all others of perpetrating ‘hipster nonsense’ or words to that effect 😂
One of my sons lives in Leith, and I can confirm it contains some right poncy places. At which I’ve eaten.
And places like the Vine. It’s a good mix right now though doubtless the povs will be gentrified away eventually by folks letting out their flats for profit.
I have lived in leith for 32 years – its changed hugely in that time. From one of the cheapest parts of Edinburgh to one of the most expensive. From a run down area as in Trainspotting to its now full on gentified hipster self.
I went to a cafe for a fry up recently. It came all piled up on a plate with a salad containing coriander on top – thats gentrification gone too far
Brave in Leith tho. A comedian was taking the piss out of leithers at the granary a few years ago at fringe time a punter left, came back and petrol bombed the bar.
