Im just building a On One Inbread frame up and ive bought a SDG I beam Micro post .It says in the instructions to fit the seat clamp (if removable type) with the clamp bolt the opposite side to the frame slit at the top of the seat tube to reduce stress.Ive always fitted my clamps with the pinch bolt on the same side as the frame slit. Will it clamp ok the opposite way as i dont want my post dropping and gouging the alloy and nice anodizing .

ignore brant; 90 degrees is always correct – hence right angle

Sorry for being dumb but 90 degrees? basically should i have the clamp bolt on the seatpost clamp on the same side as the slit in the frame or at the opposite side or will it clamp just as well either way?

90 degrees means on the side.

But I always run mine the opposite side of the ‘slit’.

Running the split in the clamp opposite the slit in he frame means you’ll get less crap in the seat-tube.

actually I’ve just thought, the extra wind resistance from a 90 deg clamp is probably the reason I’ve not yet won a wc race

can you get aero clamps ?

I’m with Scaredypants; if it’s not a Right Angle, then it’s a Wrong Angle.

I had a mate once who was describing driving in America. He said all roads are arranged in a grid and all the turns are right angle turns or left angle turns 😀

    Now you’re just being obtuse.

    Do I detect acute sarcasm?

    You are, of course, correct.

Personally, i’ve never seen fit to worry about which way round my seatclamp goes. As long as the seatpost doesn’t move….
