I appreciate that companies have to make money. But I fundamentally object to paying for things twice over.
TV licence fee, fine. Adverts, fine. Streaming subscription, fine. But if I’m paying ten quid a month for something like Disney+ and still have adverts, or for Amazon Prime and have to pay extra to rent ancient films or TV shows, you’re taking the piss.
Everything is going the way of subscription services and not just TV. You’ve got your Netflix sub, your Abobe sub, your MS Office sub, your printer ink… I was looking the other day for a disk backup/clone app I used to use, that’s now on a subscription model. I’d have paid £30 for the latest version, I’m ****ed if I’m paying thirty quid a year for it. It’s going to reach critical mass, a quid here, a tenner there, it’s just not viable to be paying month-on-month for absolutely everything you may want to use when usage might be three times a year.
