I’ve seen a few threads recently asking about GPS tracking solutions which as someone who rides solo is also of interest.

The BBC has this news story today:

Looks ideal for the solo mountain biker, product web site here:

I use the ‘buddy beacon’ feature on my viewranger app.
If I go out for a solo night spin up the local woods my GF can track where I am. Hopefully initiating the Tea proceedings for when I get back too!

There is gps tracking software for smartphones that uploads your location online as you go (assuming you have a signal).

just use endomondo and live tracking shows where you are.

Live tracking on cars with speed recorded and or relayed to a control centre would save a lot more cyclist and pedestrian lives.

Focusing on an unusual and very rare risk blinds us to the more usual and more likely risks….organisations that sell solutions around these headline grabbing risks actively ratchet up the anxiety.

agreed but can you imagine the daily mail headlines, big brother tracking your every move!!!

Reality is that it is going to happen one way or another eventually. either through insurance or road pricing.
