    Hopes.
See my new bike post. That’s using some binned Mono Minis that I repaired. Unless they are actually damaged they can be sorted.

sounds good to me, i’ll keep an eye out

oldgit i just looked at your bike post, i’m also building a bike based around an xtc, got some real bargin parts to go on it, will post up when its done, need some brakes and a few little bits first though, think the brakes will cost the most so may pay a little extra and swap brakes from another bike, hmm yes thats how i’ll justify it 🙂

Shimanos that havent been abused should be fine and not expensive!
Hopes are fine if you like to constantly mess with them, yes every little part can be replaced but they are like a stunning women, high maintenance! 8)
I sold my Hopes 18 months ago and have run Deores, LX and XT across my bikes with no probs.

That’s strage because the only brakes I’ve ever had issues with were my Shimano XTR, every pair of Hope brakes I’ve had have been 100% trouble free and the only maintenence needed is a change of pads.

My Hope C2’s are still going strong 🙂 As it happens I’ve got some cheapo Shimano for sale http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-complete-shimano-mech-disc-brakes-set-up-pics
